  1. okay, well, considering i haven't altered anything apart from the server's IP address for the clients, im pretty stuck then S: not sure what to do about it. is there a specific way that you could write a small section of code that checks for something like heartbeat packets to see if the client is still connected?
  2. sorry for the double post, but any idea on how to fix this issue? still getting the same problem.
  3. Yes, totally vanilla right out of the box, this affects every machine I have tried it on
  4. if you really want to have free hosting so to speak, why not just use an old computer and turn it into a web server and host it from home? the only thing you need to pay for is the internet bill, admittedly its a bit more work to maintain it since you will be hosting it from home, but you learn and put some experience into your pocket, and its pretty much free (aside from the internet bill)
  5. hi, ive been fiddling with the Eclipse Event System version of the engine, and ive been having a problem with the logging out of a client. playing around with a couple of machines in my household, ill have the server running fine and dandy, clients log in perfectly fine, but when i close the clients and exit the game, the server does not register that the client has logged off/quit so to speak, so the server assumes the client is still logged in, and that client/account cannot log into the game server unless an admin or server admin disconnects the player/account from the server manually, is there a fix for this? thank to any who can provide help, much appreaciated.
  6. sorry for the late replies, living in aussie land makes my time zones odd for many, right, now down to business. > Make sure it's the External IP. also make sure they are also using the same exact port you have defined. i was using the external IP and the exact same port. > are you blocking people from connecting to your ip i dont mean to sound harsh but, why would i do something so silly/stupid?? > Did you allow the server through your firewall? *facepalms* i always forget about windows firewall on these bloody Server 2K8 installs (one of the reasons i hate microsoft sometimes >.>) anyways, it connects fine and creates the accounts fine now too, cheers everyone.
  7. > This might seem stupid but did you change the IP from localhost to the IP of ur server? yes i have done that, still doesnt work.
  8. hi, ive been poking around with Eclipse for a while now and the time has come to get a server online to have a fiddle with it some more, i have my own dedicated server on a cable across town for ultra-fast net speed, accordingly i have forwarded the port 7001 for the server through the switch/router, the server has a Static IP internally and the external IP is also static, after forwarding the ports i have attempted to get a client to create an account and/or connect to the server from my PC at home (which is where i am now) with no such luck whatsoever, the client says the server is down and cant be contacted, but that cant be correct considering the server is running correctly, all static IP's and ports are forwarded. im currently looking for a way to fix this problem so the clients can connect to the server, so if anyone has some insight and a solution to this problem, could you kindly please helps me out? Cheers -Dr.G
