  2. Hi,

    I still think the best way to do it is via phone, everyone has a phone, its cheap, and if its only micro payments it would work. All you really need to do is get the server to pull info out of a MySQL DB and add something to the clients ingame bank/ingame inventor.

    Client Chooses what to buy,
    Your phone payment processor sends text,
    They reply,
    If its correct the bill the phone.

    If the money goes then run the MySQL update and update the DB to say that player X has purchased 1 of item Z

    Then the server checks the DB every 30 seconds and will take X, 1, Z and delete it out of the DB and send 1 of Z to client X.

    Simple and it should work.

    Seeing as its a side scroller, no. But each nation has its own unique campaign that links up with the rest of you friendly powers. (Will be explained)

    * MissionsWhat would a MMORPG be without a quality mission/quest system? Now the idea sounds stupid because of the games style. The idea is a less quest based system and a more shootem up system where you take on missions that rely on and goal rather than do x, do y, do z, come see me again.

    Think of if this way,
    Your a private in the French Army, and you have been chosen to destroy a bridge that is supplying the German advance through France. Because the goal is so broad you have a range of options when it comes to this mission.

    Lets say you want bomb it, this comes with a problem, Anti-Aircraft weaponry in the region will make it hard, not impossible for a plane to destroy the bridge. Well that can be easily delt with using some C4 or a rocket launcher.

    But perhaps your a tank kind of guy, you roll up in your brand spankin' new tank and find out there is a minefield in the road, no matter there are thousands of ways to deal with a minefield.

    The general idea is to allow for a user driven mission system with limits, but allow the user to research the area, implement a solution based on the research, see what resources have been allocated to this specific mission, use these resources (Tanks, Planes, Boats, Men ect) to finish the mission.

    Now sure there are a few issues, half of the player population wont want to research the mission, which i doupt users will have to do. We will probably just let the user decide what to do, you can research it, or you can wing it, rock up with more than you need and destroy the crap out of that bridge. I mean its up to you, i provide the framework, you destroy that bridge how ever you want, as long as it doesn't stand when the sun rises you pass.

    Also note that is just one type of mission, there will be many more missions, and not just destroy x.

    * RegimentsNow what would an online game be without a guild system. Well yeah, its a major part in a community driven game, allows users to connect with friends / players, play together and work as a team doing missions and raids and what not.

    So rather than guilds we plan to have a system that allows groups of users to create their own Regiments of which allows them to connect and socialize easier.

    The main idea behind regiments is for a raid system which will require different amounts of people to do larger, harder missions that involve multiple parts and requirements. Such as attacking a convey from the air and land. Or destroying an enemy strong hold, requiring many different types of players, vehicles and skills.

    * Rank SystemWell levels are useless in our game, they really are. So we came up with a better system, ranks! So players will now start as Private's and work their way up the ranks by doing various missions.

    This is amazing, the engine, the time your putting into it. Its grown into an amazing engine and im looking forward to seeing its future developments.

    If your here asking Robin to put things in for you, think of it this way. Robin does this FOR FREE, he is not hired by Marsh, he gets nothing in return from releasing the engine for FREE, but he does so. The least you could do is stop bitching to him about it needing this or that, its getting there.

    Would you look at purchasing a Cloud Machine (Think of it as a virtual computer you could host your games server and website off)

    Question 2,
    Would you buy a Cloud Machine for the prices per unit as listed below,

    Bandwidth : 0.075 USD or 0.05 GBP a GB (Not oversold)
    Diskspace : 0.25 USD or 0.16 GBP a GB (San Storage)
    Ram : 0.05 USD or 0.03 GBP a GB (Yours only, no one else can purchase)

    Question 3,

    Would you buy shared hosting on such a platform as this for under $9.99 USD or $6.20 GBP /w cPanel,
    Diskspace : 20 GB
    Bandwidth : 250 GB

  7. But most hosts offer unlimited diskspace because they can just plug another drive into their server/sans to add more diskspace and the fact that they have their TOS written so they can take your account away when you use to much.

    As for bandwidth i agree with Nick.

I still think this is the best Eclipse has looked in ages, with Fabio on the brink of releasing a beta of his Java client (Robin may be involved, i really don't have a clue), Robins amazing work with EO and the new site (Stop fucking complaining, write your own or GTFO) and all of the contributions to do with source code, Eclipse is looking quite good.
