  1. It was weird working on this project for the first time in awhile haha…

    Anyways, I was working on the mines inside the mining town of Valik which is complete now, it just needs some touch ups; but while working on the mine i realized how long it is; its coming out to 44 maps so far and thats just for the beginner and intermediate levels of the mine...as the game progressed you will gain more mine shaft keys that let you explore greater parts of the mine; i think i am going to worry about that later, but the mines right now are killer, i will post screenies later.
  2. Um, this project is still alive?

    Well, it was dead (literally) until recently.

    Sometime in July I was logging onto my computer, and what happens…right after Xp loads up and right before the blue sign on screen; I get a BLUE ERROR OF DEATH...a good ole fashion fatal error..no worries; i can go to safe mode; try to go to safe mode and get the same fatal error..any other configuration when you hit F8 gave the same error...i then tried to put in a Windows XP disk and try to repair it...I could NOT even boot into cd on start up, it sucked, so i could not even reformat. Luckily, I subscribed to drop box (If you have not heard of it, google it, it is awesome), and backed up my work a few days before the incident. I was also able to backup any other important file on my PC. To this day I am not sure what the issue is however I am leaning towards a problem with my mother board since I know its not a problem with the hard drive or things like my video or sound card.

    Anyways, I JUST got this new computer and its working flawlessly. I am going to go ahead and install my Client and Server again in the next few days and give er hell again.

    I am sorry for the lack of updates, mainly because there have been NONE. But I am back. :)

Started working on the Sacred City of Mezlo..its about 12 outdoor maps now (90x90) so it will be a big city; its going to take me some time especially since there will be tons of quests, shops, NPCs and extras. Then I am going to work on the castle; so this part will take awhile. However, I want this city to look awesome, so I am going to work on it very hard so I can present what I want Mezlo to look like visually well.
  4. looooool Sorry for the lack of updates! I have been working a lot recently so my schedule is crazy. However, there is still development going on in the game. I am working on the Great Forest right now which contains about 8 maps but there are more considering the fact that there are entrances that lead to a Moogle Village and some quest entrances. There isn't; but at the same time is quite a bit to do; I have learned a valuable lesson and that is no test dates are going to be given or even estimates to a test date for at least a week before I will release it. I also have a new host; all that means is that when I actually release it I will have reliable uptime of being online 24/7 (More or less) and the server host has a wicked fast PC so no problems will occur on the host's end :)

    The first nation and it's region is about 20-30 hours of gameplay. This includes completing all quests; visiting everywhere, and leveling up to an appropriate level. I had someone do a trial run of everything that was complete so far and it took them 15 hours to complete all the quests, level up, etc

    Anyways things are going well! I will update more often now :)

So, I had a virus on my computer, it was more of some nasty malware, did not really let me do anything but I got rid of that…The virus along with working full time has made me do a lack of updates on the game..Right now I am re doing Valik and completing that, after that will be the Great Forest, then the Sacred City..at that time I should schedule a release and during the release I will finish up some questing areas such as caves, mountain areas, etc.
  6. loool I am a marketing major..I am sure I can find a player or two..I used to own an online RPG and I am still in contact with many former members so those players will join..plus people I know in the real world..plus Eclipsers and other Mirage members from other sites..and I will advertise on many Final Fantasy game sites and forums with this…FREE 2D Online Final Fantasy RPG will get lots of attention ;)
  7. First off..Shaders it is not a 'laptop wannabe'…the iPad is considered a 'tablet' which are mainly touched based computers that are somewhere in between a smart phone and a laptop. Tablets are actually VERY useful for several reasons.

    The iPad specifically packs some solid specifications with it. Like most Apple devices, they do solid with the hardware and software (to an extent). Most people against Apple always say the SAME thing when a new Apple product is released. "Isn't this just a larger [inset random previous Apple Product". If you put two and two together, you can see Apple just innovates its current technology to compete with markets. And lets see, numbers don't lie..they are doing well.

    So, who needs an iPad? No one really. However, they can be quite useful. Its more compact then a laptop, so school wise it will be alright..not to mention if you are with At&t and own a 3g version you can hit high speed internet. You cannot do that with a laptop, unless you are connecting to WiFi or have a broadband or mobile card. Even then, 3g does not have an overage rate and it more beneficial and more available then the other two options. If you hate a touch screen keyboard (Seriously get used to it, everything is going to become touch screen soon more or less), then get a keyboard that connects via blue tooth.

    Another reason for an iPad is for multimedia purposes. The pretty display along with the solid specs such as its processor will allow you to view many different kinds of multimedia on a solid piece of screen.

    Would I get an iPad? Probably not. I will stick to be HTC Droid Incredible thank you very much, that does the trick for me. Would I get a tablet? Maybe but it would have to be an Android one and have to be worth it.

The start of the game is rather difficult..on a scale of 1 - 10 i would say about 7..and it it progresses to be very difficult..Reason being is that this will make players form partys and to go travelling for the sheer strength in numbers. Too many online games focus on solo play, I would prefer team play (Not for everything, but for many aspects) in this game..especially when doing some quests and exploring some areas. If you don't like that idea, go play an single player game ;)
  9. I think I may do a closed testing in about a week or two tops…I will choose a few people to test it. I will then hold a open test when the first nation is complete in full.

    Currently I am just finishing mapping the mining town of valik, mainly in door stuff...next I need to expand more on the zobat mines. The mines are going to be huge but i am only going to finish what would be able to be accessed at early stages of the game.

    So a few of you, expect a pm in a hit regarding a closed testing round.

Although the first area released will be the area where the Sacred of Kingdom of Mezlo is (This includes Soraden and all of Escanottle)…there will be tons of description (storyline wise and what not) of the other nations and regions. The storyline is developing well, there is tons of goodies that the NPCs say...I even inputted stuff that NPCs say now that will pay off later on in the game. :D
  11. You need to revamp your story…it needs WAY more information...the story is supposed to essentially create a setting, a plot, a history, an actual world. It is lacking in that department but it can be improved for sure.

    The classes need to be worked on as mentioned earlier. There is no "mage" like class, which isn't a big deal but offer more variety in classes...scrap the idea of the universal class, its a horrible idea. Try adding things like a defensive magic class, an offensive magic class, a ranged class, a defensive class, or create hybrid classes with mixtures of the different elements. For example, create a class called the Draco, that maybe is tied to the dragon themes of the story that has high STR and some defensive magic...give the class a downside like low DEF or something... experiment.

    Change the names of the location..the Ice Place or Palace or whatever needs to be changed..you do not have to tell the player its a place that is a ice type setting, the player will see that right away when they go there. Incorporate why the Blade Master lives there and who it is, and why would anyone want to go there in the first place.

    Also use a spell check..browsers like Google Chrome offer it, and there are free services that you can search for.

  12. Usually in RPG games, it is not uncommon to face a 'boss' in a dungeon or quest who is extremely powerful. It is not uncommon for these enemies to be so much larger then your sprites. Sometimes a "bigsprite" just won't cut it…for example:

    Do you guys have any ways to make this possible?

    I can't think of much, all I can come up with his create a boss NPC, make it black so it will be invisible..create the stats for the boss in the npc…The boss' sprite would be in tile format, maybe two different tile sets, animate them together to give it some liveliness...block all around him then put the invisible sprite in the boss and NPC avoid around it so the NPC cannot move but if you atack the boss, the npc will attack you and visa versa...after its killed, maybe setup some sort of warp that teleports you out of there..

    Haha, I don't know if that makes too much sense to you, but if it does then you can see how much of a pain in the butt that would be to create over and over again.

    Any suggestions people?
  13. Heh, thanks..the main thing for the class advancement is adding/subtracting features to each class to balance them out a bit. This will be much easier once I decide what class will have the ability to turn into who. I do know that classes that are similar to the advancement will have the ability to transform into it…so for example, mage classes like black mage and white mage will have the ability to turn into a "Ancient". Knights, Dark Knights and Barbarians may become a "Gladiator". Anywho, this is a feature that I think I will be adding since it will give the player more depth to decide if they want to have two classes..or if they want to wait and have the opportunity to transform into one of the advanced classes
  14. Fan based games like this will always do well..when its complete, just head over to DBZ forums, anime forums, gamefaqs and advertise, advertise, advertise..so many people will check it out. Everything seems good, I would suggest going against RPG Maker 2000 sprites and use ripped sprites..thats just my opinion though, check these

    Just some examples of random DS and GBA DBZ Games…the good thing about DBZ games, many of the Dragon Quest games match well with the DBZ sprites from the same system since its the same artist who does both series.

    I could see a game like this being a side scroller or standard Eclipse style, but the combat needs to be innovated, pressing CTRL for a DBZ game will be kind of lame, so innovation is key

    What I would do is offer players to travel to different planets. Each planet does not have to be super huge or anything, but the more planets gives players a chance to experience the DBZ universe more better.
  15. Aha, no SOLDIER class however there is a group similar to that in this game. This game will have themes of resistance similar to that and there is a resistance group that players can join which is opposed to one of the major nations called the Malabos Empire. This resistance group wants to destroy the Empire and restore the land similar to how it was before the Empire..this group is called "Cloud Nine" (Guess who its named after  ;) )

    The advanced  classes will be worked on, I think I will create more as the time goes on :) :)
  16. Ok so I think I am going to add a dual class system but players have the option to choose from advanced classes if they want too.

    After you reach a specific level, players can dual class by completing a specific quest. It will allow players to choose a class, ANY other class and recieve some of that class' benefits. So, in essence, a Dark Knight could go and dual class a Black Mage and obtain some black magic! There will be a negative side to this, classes who go for polar opposites, won't benefit that much. So, if the Dark Knight dual classes the black mage, they will learn a few black magic spells but they will be low to mid level spells with some high level spells but the Dark Knight does not have much MP or magic power to begin with. So the player would have to increase the Dark Knight's MAGI quite a bit which can lead a lack of focus in increasing the STR, and STR is where the D.Knight excells at.

    I will create a guide that will be posted once this is more finalized. Pretty much, classes should duel class to classes "that make sense" for their primary class. You can technically dual wield any class however as a player, you want to use strategy. The secondary class should be a compliment to the primary class. So for example a good mix would be as follows: Paladin as a primary class and white mage as a secondary class..The Paladin already starts with decent MP and magic skill, however they can only learn low level white magic and some medium level white magic. If a Paladin duel wields the white mage, they will learn way mid and high level white magic spells.

    Another example would be a Red Mage duel wielding a Knight class. The Red Mage has a decent attack, not as strong as some 'tank classes' but for the most part, decent. Adding a knight as the secondary class will allow the Red Mage to equip some equipment that will raise STR and DEF as well as give him some powerful skills.

    So, when this is more finalized, I will write more about it, it is still all in the works and is just an idea right now.

    The next thing is "class advancement". Class advancement is different from dual classes. To class advance to one of the advanced classes, players must have specific stats and be a specific class. Also players who are dual wielding classes cannot class advance. So, in the end, a player can choose to dual class or class advance; players cannot do both with the same character.

    Advanced classes will not be allowed to WAY later in the game, and will COMPLETELY change your character. Your character will maintain similar stats but for the most part, everything will be different..this includes skills, magic and equipment.

    _Mystic Knight_
    - The Mystic Knight will have a solid STR and DEF, similar to that of a knight. The main thing these knights can do is cast elemental attributes to their weapons that raises attack and gives them a elemental advantage.

    _Gladiator_
    - This class will be the STRONGEST class in the game. They wield all sorts of weapons unlike other classes. Their skill list will be vast with many powerful attacks.

    _Necromancer_
    - SImilar to a summoner, Necromancer summons dark creatures. These creatures are found in a labyrinth that is explored later on in the game.

    _Ancient_
    - Learns all Black and white magic plus has some devastating skills

    _Lunar Warrior_
    - Dual wield swords and have the ability to cast a long last style of magic called Shade Magic (Stat increasing, healing magic and some damage dealing magic)

    _Esper_
    - Mythical creatures, that along with some incredible high STR they will have powerful magic. When choosing to be a esper, the player must choose which element they want since Espers can only cast one element.

    Well , that's about it..these are the new advancements that will be added to the class system. Hope you enjoy secondary classes and advanced classes  ;)
