  1. This post is a year and a half years old dude :p Make a new thread for your question.
  2. Love the logo man. Tab themed GUI is pretty nice too. Stoked for more :)
  3. But at the same time, developers should still be able to take some internet flaming if they wish for their work to be public, right? ;p Still fun, just not as large. I can see that changing with E V though.
  4. Well anytime you need a good and serious project, DBG, you let me know! > to be honest i had never heard of Eclipse until about a week ago. I grew up programming with Basic, and over the last few years done alot of C# work with the XNA studio for 360 and pc games. To be fair while i have had some structural issues as far as the engine of the game it is still far easier to figure out then doing anything with Visual Studio and XNA and visual basic 6 is still alot easier to use then VB.net or Visual C++. But i will say this..im interested in Eclipse V i think it will be easier and a little bit more user friendly based on what i read, BUT for an MMO i think that building it in Visual Basic is still the more secure route to go, especially if you are going to be hosting home servers. But for all these games i keep hearing about i think and hope that alot more development continues to happen because im very interested in playing some of them and hopefully one of my companys games will be part of this good community one day :).
  5. Not a bad start man :) Think about using some more colours in your palette, and dont worry about line softening yet. Black outlines are completely okay - it all depends on your desired style. Also for use in Eclipse with a 4 frame animation, you only need 4 frames (obviously) and it works best if you have it like so: Stand Still ::: Step Downwards Left ::: Stand Still ::: Step Downwards Right Stand Still ::: Step Left w/ Left Foot ::: Stand Still ::: Step Left w/ Left Foot Continue the pattern with moving Right coming next, and moving UP after that. It will smoothen out your animations. Also, after you feel like you've made progress on your shading and line art, make sure you focus on angle of your Point of View. Your sprites would look nice on a platform game, but not so much on an RPG that is angled like the typical view of an Eclipse game. All make sense? Keep it up bud! Looking good. Nayte
  6. Post them when you're done, bud! We'll all give you some good C&C and do what we can to help.
  7. Anybody here remember Dark Knights? Believe it was on PlayerWorlds engine? Maybe Mirage?
  8. Honestly man, practice really does make perfect at Pixel Art. I am by no means an expert, and I learn something new with every tile I make. The nice part about pixel art is that all it takes to erase something is a simple left click. Check this out: [http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/pixel-art-tutorials/](http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/pixel-art-tutorials/) And if it helps you get better at your line art, just use pillow shading for the time being until you can accelerate your knowledge with light sources to make things less symmetrical. Also this helped me a lot early on: [http://www.natomic.com/hosted/marks/mpat/](http://www.natomic.com/hosted/marks/mpat/) With the above link, the softening outlines specifically was a huge find for me in my early stages. In the end, it's all about practice. Create your own style. As long as the palette makes sense and the line art is good, you'll have a good base to play around with. Cheers!
  9. If you cannot find usable tilesets or sprites on the internet, I doubt anyone here will be willing to do what you can do yourself. I don't mean to sound rude dude, we all start somewhere! But do yourself a favour and make it a learning experience. Rip the graphics yourself if you have to, and I'm sure people would be more willing to help if you already have done some work. Cheers! 10. > Speaking from experience, i would not use the console type MUD, build a client with players information and stuff displayed, and have a RTB "console" for displaying moving/attacks etc. When I did my on-line drug dealing game when we moved away from MUD to a actual client with pictures, inventory, npcs, players etc. our player database expanded ten fold. Anyone can throw a semi decent mud together but to build a client and make it look snazzy with decent features separates you from every other MUD. > > > > Example: > > > > ![](http://i48.tinypic.com/15etlcw.jpg) > > > > something to really consider if you want a popular game. I'd be happy to help if I was not putting all my time into my project. Good luck and I would play if/when I have the time. The best tip you'll get to improve your game right there ^ I can second that.
  11. I'm sure he plans on a pretty low-key popularity? Though I do understand Bethesda to be quite the b-tards when it comes to "copying them". Corporate temper tantrums ftl.
  12. > Not sure if anyone has noticed, but the minimap is off-center from the image behind it By about 2 pixels left, yes. I agree. Easy fix I presume? Also if the chat box is not editable by the user as far as size, width, etc goes, maybe bring it down to the bottom left corner to take up the space beside the HP potion? Looks freaking amazing either way man, I like it!!
  13. Yes Radis, they will be continuing development on EO 4.x as far as it seems from what I've last read.
  14. I can second this, I'd love to be able to edit the experience numbers.
  15. Have you edited the Classes.ini manually before using the editor?
  16. Not to be disrespectful whatsoever, as we all start somewhere - but there's not much in your topic that would attract many people to want to help out. Why would one want to give you a hand instead of either creating their own or helping someone else? Like I said, no disrespect man, I'm just pointing it out! :p Good luck dude! Cheers.
  17. Didn't think so.. agh. Thanks dude!
  18. *cough* Crucible Online! *cough* Game thread will be up within a couple of days ;) Decided to use EO 4 instead of waiting for Eclipse 5 for the time being.
  19. Hey guys! Just wondering if there is an easy way to change fonts in EO 4.2? I want to change from the single pixel letters to something a little smoother. Doable?
  20. How much, and can you send another link so I can check it out? What's all included?
  21. Not around anymore, so useless to you now, but I think Silverdale was an incredible game back in the day. However, I would love something to play in between making my own game! Good thread dude.
  22. If you're referring to the top pic, Kaz, that is my old tile set. I keep it there for comparison. Sorry for the confusion :p Also, thank you CM and Murdoc! My goal tonight is to make real trees. What you see is basically just a placeholder. Will update soon!
  23. Alrighty folks! I know it's been a couple days only, but this is just a bump to get some more input! :) Thanks again for the suggestions. Really made a difference
  24. > Nice ideea, but the top of the chest should be like, half of what it is now. same may go with the tree trunk. > > Steve's head should be ~2 px lower. I agree. Right now it looks like a birds eye view, where it should be halved to mimic the "45 degree" camera angle. Looks legit though!
