  1. Congrats on the release, I'll be sure to spread the word.

    Aranoth

First of all this game is using an RPG Maker VX online edit created a while ago by Vlad. It is an amazing engine as far as looks, but try and put a couple players on the server and you'll see why it hasn't been used at all. It also sounds like you are claiming this as the "Aranoth Engine," almost as if you believe you are entitled to put your name instead of the engine created by Vlad (think it was Vampyr something). The maps you use in the video are the default maps used to demo the editors and the 2 quests I'm guessing are default as well. Overall sounds like you have done nothing but take someone's currently created engine, maps, and content and called it your own. But feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
  3. Looks great, nice mapping.
  4. > Trees are too evenly spaced, and it looks pretty boring in general. I'd suggest some tall grass here and there. When I map, to make things look my natural I never make trees in straight lines across from each other. Keep them at diagonals, looks more realistic.
  5. @Zetasis: > Interesting. Please tell me you are not one of those people who hate "rich people"…? Lol, I see where you are coming from. It's more of a totalitarian government style (1984, Fahrenheit 451, etc.) kind of thing, so rich stay rich and control, middle class stay civilized, and the poor are left out. I'm not very political, but I do love a good corrupt government story. Still, merely fiction. @Eckhart: > The scenery is great, I like the sky(Is that a texture I see?) The characters are alright, though they're clearly styled in a certain way and I'm sure you want them like that. I'm trying a new style where you can see the detail of the characters more. If you look at the older stuff, the characters are just solid white. Also, not a texture, just 2 gradients.
  6. I have finally gone back to one of my older styles and created a new image for Project Red and Black. Each picture uses changes of only red and black (white is a shade of black btw). Check out the latest picture and story on the blog: [Sunnyview Apartments](http://projectredandblack.tumblr.com/post/27871830262/the-rundown-sunnyview-apartment-complex-once-a)
  7. A video montage of a tribes game I played at 2 in the morning. Pretty proud of it so I though I might as well share it here. Tell me what you think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYXgY5olLG8
  8. @NexSteve: > Payment per piece of art? Basically and if it takes a long time (ie. a tileset as compared to a sprite) prices will vary.
  9. Yeah I can see what you mean by hours. I'm more looking at getting paid for what should be an hours worth of work. It should reflect less of the time spent and more of the quality of work.
  10. $8 an hour is minimum wage and I've worked for free for 5 years to improve my pixel art.
  11. I've been looking at joining multiple projects as a paid artist for a while, but none of them have really worked out. I decided instead of looking for jobs, I'll just post my own topic to offer my services to everyone. **About Me** I currently live in the US and I'm in school (on summer break currently) so I have some obvious time restrictions, but I do find down time most of my week. I have been an artist and game developer for 5 years, working on my own project [Tyras](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf2/index.php/topic,78393.0.html) as well as [The Tower](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf2/index.php/topic,81427.0.html) alongside Lenn and various projects with [Sleepy Studios](http://sleepystudios.com/). I have also done work with Rpg Maker XP and VX for years, and most recently won the Eclipse Mapping Contest. **What I Offer** [**My Portfolio**](http://rmlong.carbonmade.com/) As far as art I currently work with tiles, sprites, icons, and some UI design. I'm willing to do jobs from simple edits on RMXP sprites, to full tilesets. I'm also great at mapping with a variety of tilesets and styles. My only requirement is to work within my boundaries. My style is very retro and semi-cartoonish, so realism is a stretch and larger scale work (such as character portraits) is a little out of my skill level. I am willing to accept just about any palette or style though (fantasy, steam punk, scifi, etc.). **Payment** I want to be reasonable with how I'm paid since most projects don't have any sort of funding than out of the creator's own pocket. Simple work such as a set of sprites or items can be a simple flat payment, dependent on the amount of hours I spend. As for tilesets and mapping, I'll charge by time spent and how many sets and maps I make. Making a tileset takes about 2 hours and a good, semi large scale map can take around 30 minutes to an hour (Tyras's maps take a few days, only because they are massive). Since most people like to see numbers, I'll say about $10 an hour is a good starting point. Anymore would be for shadow effects and light mapping (if you have a Dx8 or greater engine) since that takes quite a bit of trial and error. **Extra Info** I am willing to take on more than one project at a time, probably 3 max since I have to sleep at some point. If you are interested in hiring me send me a PM, I check Eclipse throughout the day. If I'm up for the job, I can continue to keep in touch through Skype (which I'm on all day).
  12. @Her0â„¢: > Make sprites to go with it, hahah. I'm really interested to see what you can come up with, matching the style of the tiles. I don't really want to work with the style any more, just a simple one time thing. @Lenn: > :o, Epic. > > My only little nitpicky complaint would be that the stairs (at least, I think that's what it's meant to be) aren't really dark where the shadow should be, so, it's not really obvious that they're stairs. > > Apart from that, go revive Project Red & Black already, make a side-scroller after Tyras! Yeah I'm not really happy with the stairs either, I can do better. As for Project Red & Black, who knows, I may start it up again, especially once Tyras has a stable release.
  13. @[Pie: > ICT link=topic=81619.msg873827#msg873827 date=1342539743] > Looks nice dude. > If you ever want C&C for your tiles or what not, shoot me a line. Always down to help other artist. You can just post your comments here… @Eckhart: > Tell him you'll do what he wants for a million dollars. Worst case scenario, he kills you and your family gets a million dollars, then more from a lawsuit. 0_o
  14. @Mr.Sean: > IIII NNEEEEDDD YYYOOOUUUU!!! Not sure how to take that… thanks?
  15. Not even a tileset, just pixel art, no grid.
