hmm last time i checked, a melody/chord structure/ consisting of a repetitive nature is often called a loop. most of music is consisted of 'loops' check the circle of 5ths, that is one big loop. and i have done remixes and produced my own loops for many musicians over the years, so i know what im talking about. p.s most well known producers of today use loops. unless your into 20 minute epic minimalistic pieces, you will use loops more than you know.

Most Of Cubase VST is awefully!!! if you want to make really good music assuming it for a game, look on the internet for royalty free loops

Well you should know you can use audactiy as more than a recording program, and yes it can be used to make music.

You Could Use Audacity, but you need some knowledge of audio syncing as well as some expertise in production techniques p.s. this is free

Yeah i do a degree in popular music etc etc. so all vb and coding is like a hobbie for me heh, they sorta go together and now im moving on to study video game design heh! Btw if you purchase the software its rather expensive! my copy was atleast 5 - 600 GBP

Logic Pro 8 its the music industry software all producers use. also look into Pro Tools HD Logic Pro 7/8 Sonar Cubase all do the same thing really. Tidetiger ;)
