  1. > Here's the concept of movement. Not smooth, but it can get you started.

This assumes you already have some sort of entity system in place.

If you're having trouble with this, I'm not convinced you know that much Java. If you really do know a bit, look into slick, it's what I use and it's very simple. There's plenty of tutorials to help you.
  2. There isn't enough contrast, I can hardly tell what they are. They're also too saturated, and you should try hue shifting them(making the darker colors more blue and less saturated and making the lighter colors more yellow and saturated).
  3. > This is hilarious! I've been here since before Origin's release so I'll have to go with Robin. He hated me though . ![;)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png)

No, he just thought you were retarded. I can't say that it's an unpopular opinion.

This conversation is a bit silly. Why does it matter who was better? Robin isn't coming back, so even if he was better jcsnider is who we have now.
  4. Haha, cool. I am a little bit surprised I won, I am on vacation in florida this weekend and I had gotten back sunday night and remembered the contest. I finished up my design(It was basically done, just needed some polishing), and realized that it was past midnight GMT. I freaked out a little bit then quickly uploaded my website and posted it. Today I realized that I had forgotten to validate it(Quite silly of me).

I see that Lenn did a good job, though I'm not the biggest fan of parts of his design he used CSS to the fullest extent(Judging by Magical Aeroplane's remarks, maybe he pushed the envelope a little too much). Everyone else did good too.

Big thanks to Aaron for letting me, and everyone else, host on his website.
  5. > I like it. It looks like a side scrolling, improved version, of Realm of the Mad God. I really hope this is better than that one.

It doesn't seem to have anything in common with RotMG except that the graphics are resized by 400%.
  6. > It looks really good if you add in the game a sandbox features like in Terraria/Minecraft it will be epic.

You know how COD would be better? If you could be a ninja, and there were dragons that you could ride.

You should've reported it, it would be more effective.

I have a shitty laptop, but I believe that for my birthday I will be getting a new, higher end laptop.
  8. > Because complexity is in your field expertise? You must have reached the peak of your judgement during this past sophomore year… 'amiright?

I lol'd, but Jungletoe has a point. I'm fairly certain that I could replicate that palm tree on Google Sketchup
  9. > MIT bro.

Not as good as Cal tech, but easier to get into. And yeah, go to a technical school if you're going to shoot that high. Cal tech and MIT are the best, at least for learning purposes.
  10. > There's a LOT of wasted space, and it is rather monotonous. Some colour, and some shrinking would be good!

Wasted space says a lot more than used space. It is very important. The color part he has right, however. Give it more contrast. Make the text darker. Make the buttons darker.

If that's your whole window, and there's no windows frame around it, then it needs a border of some sort. I often do a 1 pixel thick border of white then outside of that a 1 pixel border of a really dark color. Your X also looks weak, put it inside of a button.

Why is there a snitch in the top left?
