Building a new PC, suggestions?

Hi All,

My old PC has pretty much bitten the dust after many years…

I need some thoughts on what to replace it with.

Or, build one myself.

I already have a new GFX Card and PSU, both have never been used.

Need to fork out for Windows 7 too. :err:

In comparison to the pre-built one I linked to:

- Costs around the same

- No OS

- No Optical Drive

- includes Monitor

- has an extra 4GB RAM

Pushing it really close on the power supply, are we? (: If it were me, I'd go with at least a 750w power supply.

Will it matter, if I'm not planning on Over-clocking?

I always find it tough to estimate what sort of PSU to get, but I know the GFX Card listed needs a 600W PSU.

You can always try a 650 watt power supply. With today's games, even without overclocking, your graphics cards will still reach their max settings (which is why they say 600 watt). I have two 5970's which are dual GFX cards and I'm always maxing the first one out.

Worst case scenario is you'll just have to upgrade to a 750 watt power supply.

True, perfectly do-able. I think the most modern game I run/have run was either StarCraft 2 or Civ 4

My old PC run both on an ATI Radeon 9600 128MB.
