Its tutorial time.

Now, making custom sprites and paperdolling is extremely easy once you get the hang of it. First off, go to your EE or TE folder, go to client, then go to GFX, then right click on the file named "Sprites" and click edit.

It'll look like this, showing your sprites (mines scrolled down a bit.)

okay, now to make a customs sprite, simply color over an old sprite. (One of the quickest ways)

![](http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k278/Derekis2hot4u/title2.jpg)

Do this for each direction. You can make it however you want, however detailed you want. Really doesn't matter. It's YOUR game.

Anyways, this could take a while, but when you're done you can just copy that sprite and paste it over the sprite below that one. And just edit the essentials.

These are some older, finished projects.

These are sprites I simply drew on paint. You can do this for characters, or monsters. It really doesn't matter.

Then just save it and they're usable in your game.

PAPERDOLLING

Now I'll explain paperdolling with TE.

First off, you need the template. Your game folder gives you one, but its all craped up and messy. Its best to start off clean.

Go back to the Eclipse homepage and go to Paperdoll items, then click 32 x 64 Template

Then a separate box will come up. (give it a minute).

Right click the picture and click "Save As".

Name it what you wish to your desktop or a folder (besides TE_1.0)

Now open that file up with paint.
There are 2 types of boxes.

-Inventory Boxes (the picture of the item when in your inventory and on the ground when dropped)
,and

-Paperdoll Boxes (what the item looks like equipped to your character.)

![](http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k278/Derekis2hot4u/title6.jpg)

If you haven't noticed yet, Inventory Boxes are square,
and Paperdoll Boxes are rectangular.
(not the offial names for the boxes.. don't think there is one. :) )

Now, in the first blank inventory box, draw your currency. (Gold, Rubys, Emarlds, GP, etc.). Your currency doesn't have to go here, it just makes things easier and more organized.

Have you done that? Okay.

Now in the second inventory box, draw an item such as a piece of armor,a weapon, a hat, wings, boots, gloves, etc. Anything that you can equip and would be visable on your character.

Once you've done that its time for the harder part.

Go back to your sprites file and copy your custom sprite "the entire thing with each direction.

And paste it in the 2ND series of paperdoll boxes.
(Placement: Make the sprite's feet 2 spaces above the bottom red dotted line. Simply line up the left side.

Like it shows below.

Now just draw the item on him in each direction. (Mine is a wooden shield.)

![](http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k278/Derekis2hot4u/title9.jpg)

Then get rid of all the sprite that is showing (color it black). Plus, make the extra background showing black.

Like this:

Now, save it!

*as a .BMP file of course.

Close it out if you want.

Now go back to your TE_1.0 folder. Go to client, then GFX, then right click on "Items" and delete the whole thing. (I'm serious). Then copy the file with all the red boxes (you know, the one you just put your item in.) And paste it in the GFX and name it "Items". You should probably organize the files in GFX in alphabetical order. (So the game can read them better.)

WE'RE DONE HERE!

okay, now just edit the "Items" file in the GFX to make more items. The more you do, the better you get.

ps. if u draw your item in the 3rd inventory box, draw it in the 3rd set of paperdoll boxes. 4th in 4th, 5th in 5th, etc.

I hope my tutorial was helpful. Its my first tutorial so if you noticed a mistake or something I forgot let me know and I'll add it in.

Feel free to post this tutorial elsewhere as long as you give me credit XD.
