Gimulex
I am making a game with a friend. He is not on all the time, and I wanna map it quickly, so, can he upload the server to mediafire so i can download it, and we can both work on teh game at the different times we are on with the 2 servers? Or is that impossible?
shado360
I think it'd work, as long as you have it port forwarded on both routers (that is if you want eachother to come on) and then switch the ip adress in config.ini depending who is hosting the server @ that time. So in other words, yea, it's possible. (Also, you'd need to give eachother the newest server if you did anything 2 the code).Regards,Païn
Gimulex
Oh, so, for the maps, we don't need to upload the servers again? And also, we use Hamachi. Would that work?
elementaldisaster
hey gim ;) btw, i think there would be a prob, if you create a map on your server, his sever wouldnt get that map, and the same goes for if he creates a map on his. Otherwise you could just have assigned maps each and you create them, then send him the map files. that should work.
mattt183
or, you could get an auto-updater
elementaldisaster
that would only update client side maps unless you change so that it auto updates both. But that may mess up when players without the server use auto updater. You could- if possible, use 2 dif auto updaters. one for client and one for server… i think anyways
mattt183
exactly, that is what I meant, I think there's one out there, but if there isn't, you could make one.
elementaldisaster
just upload server files to the webhost too.. im guessing that would work. Well, it is a multi purpose one that robins made so it should work
Ruins of Hell
What nonsense are you guys blabbering about now?Just tell your friend to portforward so you can log on to his server.
elementaldisaster
he cant. they log on dif times and none of them can hold the server up long enough. (if i understood correctly)
Ruins of Hell
Then they can't expect to make a game with each other. It requires cooperation and work. If neither of them can keep the server on; they should get someone to do it for them.
elementaldisaster
i think they just trynna get as many maps done as possible before they do get someone. anyways, going a bit off topic. I was just suggesting the first possible idea that came to mind ;)
Ruins of Hell
Then at least suggest something decent that will sync your files, lime [Dropbox](http://www.dropbox.com).The reason I don't want them to use Robin's updater (although it's perfect for it's purpose), is that I'm sure they'll have troubles with it. Dropbox is simple.
