Zyvo Posted March 8, 2012 Author Share Posted March 8, 2012 If I were to rebuild the engine's sprite system from a single preloaded image split into 16 motions to a preloaded folder containing .gif images of a single sprite (for each sprite) where each gif pic would have a different use, would it slow the client down? if so by How much? Ruins of Hell Posted March 9, 2012 Share Posted March 9, 2012 Probably. Note that you're going to have to find out how to loop through the frames. Overall I think that the whole idea is without merit: you get a slower speed for a small file size. If you want the file size, you could load a JPG (100% compression of course) to get a lower file size with better speeds than loading the .GIF.
