  1. Actually I've done that once, it is a user error, so it's not really something a Dev could fix. Also if you wanted to run a second server just change the port and put in the server select stuff(there is a tut on that somewhere).

Damian666- You should probably take a crack at making the Night lag less, It should be a challenge. (Yeah that's not entirely true I think) <_<
  2. It might help you to keep a log of the changes you make to the engine (even minor ones) that way you don't make minor mistakes. I wish I knew vb just to help out. X_x. Anyways I've got to get back to my C++ book or I'll never actually learn anything.
  3. It's a bit hypocritical as well. Sounds to me like your issue is just that compatibility. The question is "Why is the main not working". I mean besides some extra things(helpful things actually) it's identical to the normal mains.
  4. It's that same logic that makes stupid people believe all intelligent people are argent know-it-all's. It wouldn't matter what the use of the word driver was in the sentence, and you are taking it out of context. The quotes say ".dll" file. Us, being intelligent people, would want to assume that if this person was smart enough to take a screen shot of the specific error he would be smart enough to follow simple instructions and associate them with the file in question since it would tell them how to solve that problem. We should never assume that just because someone has not rank on a forum that they are devoid of intelligence. I hope that person found much help in my solution and will try that route rather than asking people on here for help again. Especially when the textbook answer is the only correct one on this forum.
  5. This is only making things worse. My point wasn't what the thing should be called, it was a solution to fix it. "Google how to register a .dll file" or "Google how to register a .dll file on vista" is that so hard to do? Either way rather than tossing after the fact info that is only trivial to the op can we admit that the solution was given. The more we write things in jargon the less newbs on any level understand.
  6. I could sit and write a long response to this "pseudo flame* but I don't care. Since that person didn't reply we could only assume that their issue was resolved before either of you posted. I've spent about three hours reading a textbook on c++ and I can see why most people hate computers now. To quote a popular band name, "Keep it simple stupid". When we copy and paste info without answering the question or helping other than giving trivial information that will not be retained we are only making things worse.

Edit: To add to what I just said, I called the dll file a driver, what other name might I call a "support file", also I addressed the issue without a wall of copied text.
  7. Are you using vista? (I use xp)

Well you see a .dll file is a driver used by a program or the operating system(paraphrasing here) they are stored in your system 32 folder in you local disk. So if it says it can't find that specific file then it's either not there, or not registered. there should be a tutorial for this kind of thing somewhere, if not just google "how to register a .dll file".
  8. I actually covered why they should have a more complex class system in the first piece of advice I gave.

Though, If you pay attention to the current state of the gaming industry you would know that A: Games with a gimmick, good story, or mindless violence do well; B: Games that are not innovative fail; And C: Although Old school can be fun you have to improve to succeed. What does this mean? Well if they are making "a simple dungeon crawler" It could be lame and boring if it's all repetition; however, if they were to have a broad class system and some back story to help the game along the repetition could be forgiven. I know I'd forgive a repetitious game if I can do it differently each time I play.
  9. Lol, actually if the context of my last post was read properly it shows that I am not simple. On the whole color thing, having a specific name for each shade of a color such as "hot pink" really helps me to identify that color and shade. It's like putting a word with a picture.
  10. I'd agree with you there. I mean I love my step mom, but mostly because she sends me baked goods on my birthday; However, I love my girlfriend because she completes me in a way that I don't think is possible. I suppose for most things I'm odd.
  11. I disagree with Robin, anything is possible if you put enough thought into it. DDO(anything D&D really) is good for this kind of "research* I mean it was the beginning of Rpg's as we know them.
  12. I wouldn't steal their concepts so blatantly I'd suggest playing Tatics A/A2 and re working the system to match your game style. I've tried to take things from a lot of the rpg's I've played over the years when working on mine. The toughest thing I've found is keeping everything balanced.
  13. I'd go heavy on the classes. Also add some skill mixing, Ie: some skills work for more than one class. Dungeon crawlers can be boring, so give the class system something to make the whole thing fun.
