It will be open source, but that's all I know.
Alright Marsh. Let me try again. Do you want actual functioning buttons, or just button images on the gui? -
@Displaced:

The link works for me…

Probably, but put your money where your mouth is! ;) What does him being new here have to do with that though? -
Well, this is a fun topic. When I saw what it was about, I thought for sure this would be a flaming, lockable topic. Instead, the replies make a charming read!

@Marsh:

That makes sense. Oh well, I tried :) -

@Marsh:
> Im using visual c++ 2008 Express. Its free from microsoft. As for the SVN not very likely at the moment, this is just a little hobby for me.
Visual C++? Aww. Well I guess as long as your making it for Windows, that compilers guaranteed to make something compatible.
I probably wouldn't have made use of the SVN anyway, just curious. -
Marsh, this may have been mentioned earlier, but what compiler are you using, and are you planning on posting anything on the SVN? That would be interesting…
-
Yes, I'm using dual boot.

I've always been curious with Linux, but I always thought that it wouldn't do what I wanted considering I'm a Windowsaholic. But with the combination of wine sometimes working and the many built-for-Linux software alternatives kept me off windows for most things, except for trying Eclipse Origins, which I couldn't even get the client to open.

Trying to find Linux alternatives also forced me to try Eclipse C/C++ compiler, a.k.a "not visual C++" and I'm glad I did. No more Microsoft compilers for me!

Well, Linux operating systems tend to be a more developer-friendly OS compared to windows. If your using VB6, though, Linux might actually make it harder, because you have to use WINE. Using wine is ok, but certain things might not work correctly. -

Good news! It works perfectly with wine! Also, I didn't see any console.

Really? Thanks! I was just aiming for a nice and simple style, and I guess it worked out. -
This is going to be awesome now that I know some C++! You have my full support, and I'm willing to help out if you want.
I didn't check all of the replies to see if someone had already done this, but here's a draft of a gui for your map editor.

It isn't great, but it's clean and I used your image of the map editor to make it, so it should fit well. If there's anything you would like me to change, please ask. -

From what I remember, you either have to edit something in config.ini, or you have to just make a music file named MainMenu.(whatever) I don't quite remember and I can't find it at the moment.

@XxshadowAssasinXx:
> SE?solar eclipse?
I think he's referring to Eclipse Stable
Eclipse Stable is an awesome source edit, but it has some problems with the sadscript errors. It works if you turn the errors off, though in data.ini. Set:
Scripterrors=1
to
Scripterrors=0 -

My boss sends me emails on an email I keep telling him doesn't work anymore, and then tells my 5 days later that he sent it to me, and that I need to do whatever is on there now. It kinda sucks, but the website I'm updating has almost no people on it, and updates usually only come a few times a month, so it's still an easy job.
Too bad I don't get paid :P -
@Robin:
> Same with the signature. Just a background, a render and some unreadable text. :P
It's readable if you highlight it and look really closely. It says something about a .hack mmo being free ;) -
I agree. The second is much better. It looks nicer because it's all contained…and then there's the graphic at the top...:D
-
It's nice, but I don't see why it's a big enough deal to make a topic about it.
-
Hehe. I love those maps. Isn't it great how eclipse can turn useless topics into a collection of complete and utter lulz? Or at least until someone locks it.
-
But gay isn't filtered…
-
Why?

Are you cerial??? I have to try this.
Edit: How cool! How could I have missed such a kick-ass feature! And it actually works too, which is great. -
So your also doing Eclipse++? Goodness, marsh! One engine at a time! ;)

As you can see, I made the save and exit buttons, but they are at the bottom, which I can change if you want, but I think it makes more sense. The paper is for where you would put all that data you had under the map number. I was not sure about the rest of it, so I left it blank. No use it putting a bunch of effort in to something when you don't even know if it will work. I got rid of the semi transparent TOOLS text, because it would just be obstructed by everything anyway.
I suggest you make the attributes and maybe the layer selectors drop down lists for better use of space and ease of use. It would work especially well if you were planning on making layers like how they will be in SE 1.0, where you can add layers. If you have anything you want me to change or add, don't hesitate to ask.
