    Here is a small teaser story for you guys. I tried to select a small part that will not spoil the story too much, but give you an idea of what is happening. 

    As always, ignore the typos/wrong english… gonna fix it at the right time.

    Glad you liked it. About what I'm going to use? Well it will be a custome Mirage Source build.

The combat alone makes eclipse games feel unpolished and destroys much of the fun for me (as fighting is still a core mechanic that you use often).

    A tree? Naah~ That would be indeed to much. All I took/learned from is the crafting system and team work from SAO.

    As far for the combat, I do have to agree about it. The plans that I have right now for the combat system, will make the game a little more enjoyable. I had some ideas for like the past 6 months on how to make the combat and I did some testing before, the result… is just awesome :)

    Welcome to my thread and welcome to
    **Soul Craft**
    introduction. I'm **Ne[o]x**
    as you can see and I had been an eclipse member back from 2008\. As past experience, I could say I worked on two main/important projects, SIlverdale / Blasters Online, but also on smaller projects which never saw the light. So once again, I'm here to present a new project which will be unique, high quality and none the less funny, I think ^_^

    So, what is **Soul Craft**
    ? In short this **ORPG**
    will focuse on **Crafting**
    as you can deduct from its name/title, but just saying crafting would not be enough. This new project that I made plan to start working on is going to focuse on team play, player trading, crafting/trading skills and exploration. Got you interest? No? Well I was sure about it, so if you are still reading this, lets get into much more details and hopefully by the end of this thread I will catch your attention. 

    Reading all my plans while enjoying a coffee I can notice a lot of things that are took from Sword Art Online… borring eh? Well, well, you shall find out that Soul Craft will not try to be a copycat Anime -> Game thing, but use some of SAO's core ideas on how to build a game and almost "force" players to work as a team to creat better gear, defeat unique monsters and why not, what their backs.

    So, lets move to the next sections and dive a little deeper. Shall we?

    As stated above, this ORPG's main game core would be Crafting and Team work, so lets have a more in detailed look at what that means, but also make a general idean on how the game would be *intended* to play.

    **Crafting/Trade Skills**

    In the world of Soul Craft, if you want to be the strongest Hero, or villan why not, you'll have first to master several crafting/trading skills which will help you to creat much more powerful weapons, armors, accessories, but also to creat the consumable items that you need to keep your account alive and healthy. Soul Craft will have around 50 crafting/trading skills, but also a, what I like to call, "in-teres-ting skill system, but we will talk about the skills later on.

    Even if you want to become a Blacksmith or drop this Crafting/Trading skill or maybe you want to be a "Know all" type of player who got all his skills maxed out? Well thats your decission.

    **Team Play**

    To better enjoy the game, Soul Craft will reward you for playing in a team with your friends. Whenever hunting, collection or PKing you have a good reason to be in a party. Being in a party will not cut down your gained Exp and the droprate will go thru some filters before is going to be handed to the player. Other than this, there will be special Buffs that will make Team Play such a better experience. We are talking about all kind of buffs here, Friends Buffs, Wife/Husband Buffs, Guild Buffs.

    **Combat Skills and Player Classes.**

    There will be no classes, meaning you can access any skill you wish at any time. There will be a maximum number of skills you can learn at a time + unique skills. So if you get borred of being a DPS player you can change your skills tree to a Tank or Healer class, no need to create a new account and do everything all over again.

    **Unique Skills:**

    This is where you need to pay a little attention. A unique skill once learned can't be changed. While they will not affect your gameplay too much, they will be important. This skills could give you more dps, more hp, more speed, more exp when crafting, etc. So if you seem to be the guy to take the weapon and beat some monsters, you would focus on the Combat Unique Skills. If you are a Born Seller/Merchant you would like to focus on Trading Unique Skills.

    **Game Map / World Map / Cities**

    Every zone will have its lore and use. There will be zones where Skinning (hunting) would be the main occupation or hills/mountaines where mining would be the perfect way to gain some money or better gear. There will be one capital city mainly for Trading, but other than this and related to the skill you want to level up, you will have to go to different cities/towns/camps.

    Soul Craft will feature all kind of areas starting from huge towns, forest areas, caves, ices, etc etc. Everyone will have his favorite byome waiting for him.

    **Leveling**

    While I didn't touched this point so much yet, there will be several ways to level up, including hunting monsters, completing quests, crafting (yes, crafting) and other "to be announced" way. Leveling will not be the main focus for traders, but for combat players.

    Hundred of quests, Towns to explore, Skills to level up, Gear to be crafted. There will be anything you coud ask for, but not only! Let say you worked your ass of, why not take a break? Build your house, decorate it, sell some gear, talk to your friends or read the lore our your town. 

    Soul Craft's main focus will be PVE, with strict and "to worry" PVP consequencest (read below), so if you are the type of guy to RP in games, you can do that without anyone stoping you to do so.

    PVP will be very dangerous for the villan, why? Well great rewards come with big risks. Once you reached a certain level, PVP/PK functions will be unlocked for you, but why PKing players?

    To craft the greatest armor and weapons you will need a special ingredient named "Soul". Using the soul you take from players, you can enchant your crafting at a hole new level. This system have a great risk attached to it and thats because if you get killed in the next 2 hours by any player your account will be wiped. Thats true, you lose everything you worked. There are ways to prevent the account wipe, but we will talk about this on the "To Come" Dev. Blog Posts.

    Planning is 80% done. Lore, Areas and Town name's and most of the tradeskills are complete. All thats left for me to do is to find tons of tile sets to work with and some coding. Well that the tricky part, so I'm not going to do this flashy because I hate people who do so (and I hate asking it) but I could you 1 coder and 1 GUI/UX artist.

    There are no screenshots at this point as most of the stuff will chage in the days to come so… sorry >w<

    Hard? Not really, but you have to find what you like to watch. There are good animes which I love and you may hate them, its all about your tastes.

    **What is ShiroChan?**

    ShiroChan has been made as an alternative for big social networks, where not everyone feels comfortable to share or talk about Anime, Manga, Cosplay or anything which falls under Otaku/Weeaboo category.     I have some projects that I have worked on like Silverdale and Blasters Online + other projects on other forums.

    So this tutorials are intended to help new developers to better understand how they should develop their games, hopefully to increase the quality standards sooner or later.

    For the next 30 days I'm going to stream each day about 3-6 hours covering topic like,

    How to:

    * Map (the proper way)
    * Create Item/Monsters
    * Make a Story/Lore for your game
    * Make quests following your story
    * Improve your mapping (that you already have)
    * Balance your game.

    Each day I will try to cover a subject and explain it so everyone could understand how to make his own game.

    So for example in day one I will talk about general mapping, way to map and how your maps should look like.

    On this subject I'll cover different mapping styles and themes like Mountains, Dungeons/Caves, Plains, etc.

    My stream should be up at 8PM (GMT+2) and I'll have a small break at 9:30PM/10PM, which will also conclude part one. At 11PM the stream should be back online and part 2 of the day will continue.

    Please address me all your questions related to the topics listed above and I'll be sure to answer each question and also to include an example.
