  1. Actually there is a difference between the religious swastika and the nazi swastika, most people just don't know the difference, nor the history of the symbol

    > The bible may provide the most information on Jesus's life but the thing where he took a small amount of food and made it a lot of food was obviously fake

Most of the bible should be taken as symbolic and as a guide to morality and leadership. There's no question Jesus was special, though many of the ideas are hard to believe. My interpretation of it was this: "Take what little you are given and create much"
  5. Also some of you guys no basically nothing about religion.

Christianity, Judaism, and Islam are all Abrahamic Religions based off of God's first servant Abraham. Islam spread from Abraham's song Ishmael who he had with his house maid Hagar. Judaism and Christianity spread from his second son Isaac who he had with his true wife Sarah.

Christianity didn't break off of Judaism, it fulfilled God's promise to the Jews. Modern Jews just don't accept Jesus as the Messiah.

Also while this is kinda hard for most non theists to admit, the Christian Gospels are actually the most accurate portraying of Jesus' life. The Gnostic Gospels were written hundreds of years after the Christian Gospels.

In general religion is a stupid idea though. The original god's of the ancient people were based of off their ancestors. Then people like Zoroaster and Akhenaton came along with monotheism, which didn't really take off until Christianity became the official religion of Rome.

Point is, corrupt kings messed up Christianity, but religion in general is a horrible idea.

    > I don't know if I should get into this mess. Because if I do, I'll probably piss off every major religion in the world, get smitted by God, pwned by the devil and then kicked in the ass by the atheists. But here's my theory. While I do hope that there is something after death, (as I think there must be as nothing in science can account for the "soul"), the most likely case is that whatever comes next, if anything, isn't how everyone thinks it is. Seriously, you want to believe a book written by guys when they use to think that the Earth was the center of everything and that the world was flat? I take all religious books and readings as morality teachings, not much goes higher than that.

    Agreed 100%

Christianity started out a good religion and then was corrupted in the Middle Ages.
I do hope that after death there is reincarnation, because I want to live forever.
But I am 100% that hell and chasitity and all that shit is bullshit.
Live and let live. Life is short enough. Enjoy it.
  7. NOTE: NOTHING IN THIS THREAD IS MEANT TO BE OFFENSIVE TO ANYWAY POSSIBLE

Hey everybody, it's been a while. I've been so busy these past two months with high school and all. When they say it's a huge adjustment they weren't kidding. Gone are the days were you can study for a test the night before(and college and grad school are gonna be even more work).

Anyway, a little background to this thread. To those who don't know me I am Fruitpunch(not me real name of course). I grew up in Haverford, PA, a suburb southwest of Philadelphia. For elementary and middle school, I attended a small private school on the Main Line. The Main Line is a primarily middle to upper class suburban region southwest of Philadelphia. I did not enjoy my time at that private school and over the years grew to despise Haverford and the Main Line.

This year is my first year in high school. For high school I am attending a very prestigious inter city private school (anyone familiar with Philadelphia area private schools should know "The Prep"). The last two months have been very interesting for me. "The Prep" attracts students from all over the Pennsylvania suburbs, as well as intercity Philadelphia, and New Jersey. People come from as far as Galloway and Ocean City, New Jersey to attend the Prep. As you can imagine I have met kids from as a few blocks away to kids from the suburbs north of Philadelphia, to kids from both South and North Philadelphia, as well as kids from across the river. Now to the meat of this thread.

Some of my closest friends are from intercity Philadelphia. What I have noticed over the course of these last two months is the friendliness of suburban kids compared to urban kids.

    Race

This seems to be a big thing. Believe me I am not that guy who judges people by race. To me, it's more of a cosmetic thing. However, in general, urban kids definatly seem more comfortable around people of other races than suburban kids. Honestly, I always feel somewhat uncomfortable when I am around people of other races who I am unfamiliar with, specifically African Americans. My belief is that it has to do with racial jokes, and how far is too far. And it's different for every person. City kids, having been exposed to different races at a much younger age, seem to have a sense of what is generally appropriate and what is taboo. Another example is this. I know girls from South Philadelphia, since my grandmother is from South Philadelphia. I have seen that at dances and parties, they have no problem dancing with other races, whereas some suburban girls generally stay away from it.

    General Friendliness

I tend to only hang around generally nice people. But even my best friends from the suburbs have a sense of who's cool and who's a faggot. Urban kids have this judgement also, everybody does, but it definately seems less ingrained in them then to suburban kids. Suburban kids tend to be more aggressive and quick to pick out flaws. This doesn't mean that all suburban kids do and all city kid's don't, I am positive I could find exceptions, it really just matters what type of person they are. However, a majority seem to follow this stereotype. I believe this is directly related to family. Most kids from urban areas in Philadelphia are either Italian or African American. Generally, Italian and African American families have a reputation for being close knit. My family is Italian and I know we are. However, suburban kids seem to recieve on average, less attention from parents and family members, usually because both parents work time-consuming full time jobs.

    Drugs and Alchohol

When I was young I never noticed how many people smoked and drank. I always thought of it as a dying addiction. When I hit the latter half of middle school, well that was a surprise to say the least. Today I am fully aware that Haverford is OVERRUN with drugs and alcohol. An anynymous servey showed that 60% of the kids in Haverford public high school actively smoke weed, and even more drink alcohol. None of my friends from the city drink or do drugs(well except for a bit of wine on sundays…it's an Italian thing).

I am tired of typing now...so I just want to know. Has anyone else had similar experiences with this?
  8. A buddy and I recently came across a collection of extremely good, extremely underground, European metal groups. Anyway I have been searching the entire internet for their albums, in ways both legal and illegal. Does anybody know any good places to find underground music. These bands are so unheard of they are not even on Pandora Radio or Last.fm.
