This post is a little late, but I just checked out the video for the first time and dang I love the scrolling sky at the top of the mountain, awesome! Something like that would be great for a sidescrolling train level - off topic

I understand that the big drawn picture is just for layout purposes, but if you want anyone to take this project seriously, you should not release it to the public.

Hey man, don't get too down on yourself about the comments. This is where my push for planning really stands out, even to hobby projects. You have to plan. The first impression of your game is going to haunt you forever, so you gotta get it right the first time.
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail my friend. -
Yeah the reflection is a bit much and the arrow isn't very smooth. Other than that, not bad at all :)

Yeah, I see where your coming from. There's no reason your project can't become something more, but there's nothing wrong with a hobby project too. Good luck, looking forward to seeing where you take it :)

Wow I really like how it shows the face on the upper-left, gives a sense of character to the small pixelated player.

You can accomplish this by placing "no npc" (or some name to that degree) attributes around the npc.

I would highly discourage you from making a pokemon game. Even if you succeed, you will have to deal with lawsuits and C&A letters up the ass. Create something original, follow through with it, and let the winning commence.

It is very unfortunate…. I remember wanting this game to come out so bad. I think it may have been better if you would have renamed it, you used original artwork anyways. Well, I'm not sure if the likeness would be close enough to warrant legal issues.

I think if it's compelling enough, people will pay. However, you need to be creative. For instance, if your game gets popular, let people buy ingame money that they can use to buy things only with that type of money.
