  1. This is just a silly thing I worked on today, basically I created a node.js server that connects to Omegle and initiates a chat with strangers, and using the Cleverbot web API cleverbot will automatically talk to strangers, without them even knowing sometimes.

I'm also using socket.io to allow the web page to communicate with the server where the actual conversation is going on. You'll see Cleverbot type it's messages, but note that the send message box will not do anything for you. Also, the "Stop" button is a vote based button, enough votes will next the stranger.
  2. Hey everyone, just thought i'd give you guys a Twitch stream of my friends and I playing through the new RPG Cube World. We're streaming quite often this week (including at the time of this post), check it out and maybe buy it.

Hello everyone, thought I'd show some work that i've been doing for the past week or so.

So… I created a website called Watch Reddit. Before I start, I must say that the development of this site has taken quite a large turn-around in direction, since when I first started it really had nothing to do with Reddit, and was basically just a ploy for me to make my own synchtube, or YouTube video viewing site that sync videos to multiple users. Long story short, I ended up going off the idea of a friend of mine and I implemented some Reddit stuff with their API, and not too long after I decided to make my own little "TV-like" website.

    **What does it do?**

Watch Reddit is a website that is all about watching youtube videos with friends. Using Socket.IO, when you join the site the server will send you a guide with all of the current "channels", which contains videos related to the certain subreddit to which is relates. If you don't know what a subreddit is, it's basically a forum on Reddit that contains posts about a certain subject. What Watch Reddit does is it occasionally parses each registered subreddit (channel) in it's database for YouTube links, and puts them in to the channel queue for everyone to see together.

Everyone on each individual channel watches the same thing, the server makes it so that everyone's video is synced with each other, and even allows you to chat about what's going on in the video.

**So these channels… Where do they come from?**

A channel is a subreddit, or topic on Reddit.com. Subreddits are made by users, and can be found by viewing reddit.com. As for Watch Reddit, channels are created by any user who wants to add one just as long as there is a subreddit with the same name. So let's say I wanted to make a channel for Minecraft, well there's a subreddit for that, or maybe I want to listen to some creepy pasta, that's a subreddit too! So, on WatchReddit.com, I just type in "Minecraft" or "Creepy pasta" and then it creates a channel for everybody to see on their guides right away.

**Synced? What if I don't like what i'm watching?**

If you don't like the video that's playing, you can vote to _skip_ that video by clicking the check mark at the top right of the screen. If over 50% of users vote to skip the video, the server will begin playing the next video in queue. However if that doesn't work, you can always just watch another channel, or make one with a similar subject!

**What's the point of this website?**

This is actually something I will use myself quite a lot. The point is you get to watch awesome user-submitted videos with your friends, and even chat with them while doing so! Everyone sees the same thing at the same time, and the channels and videos are seemingly infinite since they're coming from one of the most visited user-driven websites in the world! It's a great thing to waste your time on if you're bored, and it gives you new things to watch all the time, and more things to share with your friends.

    **TL;DR**

I made a website that let's you watch subreddits with friends! Check it out ![;)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png)

Please keep in mind before you visit the site, that it **IS** new and shallowly tested. I believe I fixed it up quite well for a small release, so please don't judge it by any issues it has this early into development.

  4. It's been awhile since there have been any updates, so I thought I would mention a few promotions we've introduced recently.

    **VPS25LIFE**

As stated before, we are now offering Virtual Private Server hosting! Our plans are viewable at http://www.fluxilo.com/servers and range from 256MB RAM to 512MB to 1024MB (1gb) to 2048MB (2gb), all with burstable limits. This promotion is **limited time** and deducts 25% of the price from any VPS plan of your choosing for the **lifetime** of the service! This makes our 2GB plan a measly $18/mo, our 1GB plan $14.96, and our lowest VPS (256MB) **$5.21**!

    **FREENAME**

This one has been around for a while now, but we haven't gotten many uses from it! This promotional code allows you to purchase any grid hosting plan for 1 year with the price of the actual domain name cut off. This means instead of paying for web hosting month by month and then a domain name as well, you get both for a 1 year term for just the price of the hosting.

As always, we strive to provide the best for our customers and would greatly appreciate it if Fluxilo was mentioned to your friends that are looking for web or server hosting!
  5. > Just letting you know, I will probably be purchasing a hosting plan and possibly a domain using your website soon. This service looks great. Is it easy to upgrade from plan to plan?

Thanks for being interested! Yes, you can start out with any plan you'd like and if you'd like to upgrade or downgrade, it's very simple to do so if you send in a support ticket.
  6. **UPDATE!**

So, it's been a while since i've lasted said any updates… I've got one now. We've been working hard on upgrading our hosting nodes and have just launched Fluxilo 2.0, not only is the website ([http://fluxilo.com/](http://fluxilo.com/)) completely redesigned, we are also proud to announce we are now hosting Virtual Private Servers!
  7. ![](http://www.burnr.me/style/images/logo.png)

So a friend and I were bored a couple days ago and came up with our own little idea for a URL shortening service after taking a look at bit.ly.

    **URL:** [http://burnr.me](http://burnr.me)

    **GET OUR CHROME EXTENSION:** [https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/gfcjgmempmnidkjbfgdmlpljmjeibnjg](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/gfcjgmempmnidkjbfgdmlpljmjeibnjg)

Basically, it's taking the idea of the urban definition of "burner", as in a burner cellphone, which

is basically a pre-paid phone purchased mainly by _dealers_ so that they are easily disposed and untraceable.

This service gives users the option of making a shortened URL self-disposable after a certain

amount of clicks of the link, or they can make it time based and tell it to expire from anywhere between, say, 1 minute to 365 days (it can be as long as you want really).

So yeah, try it out ![:P](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.png) The interface is incredibly simple, just pop in a URL and click "Burn" or press the enter key!
  8. @Aaaron:

    > Well, I'm trying it out..
    >
    > It's taken awhile to get any emails about my hosting and when I go and try to open up the cPanel, Chrome gives me "This webpage is not available."
    >
    > Edit:
    > Got it all figured out. ;p

Haha I was the agent you talked to that got you all fixed up ;) Sorry about that, won't happen again. The SMTP out port was changed and emails weren't going through properly. As for the cPanel, use the one in the email for now and once propagation is complete you may access it through your domain.
  9. Thank you, Chief :)
Also, an update. We've purchased a license for RVSiteBuilder, so anybody that purchases a hosting plan will get a free Site Builder in their cPanel. This makes it easier for people that don't know enough HTML/CSS/JavaScript to compose a decent website to still build a website without needing any coding knowledge at all.
  10. @Chief:

    > I get domain names for $4.95 … no way I would ever pay upwards of what you charge.

While it may be true that some registrars will allow you to get domain names for such a price, the standard for .com/.net/.org/etc is around $12\. However, that doesn't rule Fluxilo out completely; we make it easy for customers to simply purchase a hosting package from us so that they can point their DNS records to our nameservers as well.
  11. @Chief:

    > Your domain prices are atrocious.
    >
    > Other than that, your prices seem very reasonable.
    >
    > Do you resell, or do you own your own serverbox? I will assume that you are reselling.

What do you mean? Our domain prices are lower than a good deal of competitors, or at least within a dollar or 2 range. But thank you :)

And no, we do have our own servers for our hosting plans. As for domain name registration, we use eNom.
  12. @Zinc:

    > i honestly dont under stand this. why cant you just log in without doing this stuff. (arn't you guys supposed to have this done already

This process has to be done by anyone that wants to host ANY kind of server at all, unless they are not behind a router (which is rare). This isn't Eclipse's fault, it's just a form of security that your network has to protect you from attacks from the outside world. Trust me, just use portforward.com, it's simple.
  13. @Inius:

    > Nice job bro!.
    > But Vb6 is not weaker in any way. VB.net is just new and as far as "weak" goes it makes the coder lazy because not that hard to learn and uses easy methods to do everything further dumming down the programmer(i speak from experience)
    >
    > And Vb6 is old yes, but it is effective and a programmer with medium knowledge of vb6 is more likely to get a job as a full fledged vb.net programmer.
    >
    > And we even have a living proof(NO ONE HAS EVER MADE ECLIPSE (EO) In VB>NET Have they?) Even if they worked on it they gave up.

No. Someone who is experienced in .NET has a much, much higher chance than someone who only knows VB6\. VB6 is a dead language. Support for it was thrown away by Microsoft in… 2003 I believe? Anyway, it's dead, and just because Eclipse/Mirage still use it does not mean that VB6 is a good choice in a programming language, and most certainly does not warrant that just because there is not an 'Eclipse' in VB.NET, that VB6 is better. Because it's not. Personally, everyone here that tries taking the VB6 Eclipse source code (i'm speaking from experience) and try to port it to VB.NET (or C# for that matter), will fail. The code is just so old and uses such old methods that nobody in their right mind would take the time completely rebuilding the game engine from scratch.
