    > Nice job on, although it may be seen differently elsewhere, the use of weasel words, for the most part, in places where, although it can be debated, should not have been used, unless, of course, the author wanted not to start a fight, in which case, it would be OK, so long as those words did not provoke a fight, even though this is usually not the case.

    Very funny…
  2. I'm with you, man.  Your opinion isn't flawed. I don't agree with it, but I understand where it's coming from and I think it will, to a certain extent, make the community more dependent on good programmers.
  3. People that are asking for features just want more features, and there is nothing wrong with that.  People that complain if Robin doesn't help or put the features in Eclipse are the people that I don't like.  But people, the people asking for new features aren't usually commanding Robin to put them in Origins.  They are usually politely suggesting it.  Suggestions = More features - New features = better engine.  That's just my opinion.  And I realize that this engine is for people who want a basic engine that they can edit to their needs, but that's why Robin has the choice about whether he thinks it is a worthy addition to the engine.
  4. Maybe it's in the wrong format.  Maybe it's a really big sprite so it doesn't show up on the preview.  Can you give us a little more facts?  Here's what I want to know.

1\. Is it in the right format?
    2\. How big is it?
3\. Is it not there in the preview or in the actual game?

I could think of some more but I'm feeling very sleepy right now.

    > You can do that.
    > You know the engine really well, right?
    > Since Robin can't give us any tips or at least something.
    > I mean he didn't create the engine and doesn't know it in and out.
    >
    > Sarcasm ends here.
    > Idiot.

…Are you serious?  If that was meant to be humor, then I'm not laughing.  If it was meant to be taken seriously I'm leaving this community right now.
  6. @pankaka:

    > Robin is there a way you could add "NPC" death animations. A simple animation to be shown after the npc gets killed.
    > Or can anyone lend a hand?

That would be awesome.  Although I think that would mean that the graphics would have to be updated to fit.  Unless the death animation will be a separate file.

    > I don't think that's a good question to ask, he doesn't give release dates. He's spontaneous when he releases things and he just released this less than a week ago. Let people like me get some time to build onto ours without having to worry about merging the sources every couple of days. Aka more things in a longer period of time.

I wasn't asking for a release date, I was asking how the progress was going for the engine.  I like to know what's going on behind the scenes while I'm waiting.  I'm fine if he doesn't tell me anything, I'm just politely asking him.  By the way, who are you to be telling me what a good question is to ask Robin?  So, Robin, now that that's all cleared up, maybe you could give us some updates on your progress so far?
  8. Since interloper was a little vague I shall assume that you are a bit of a noob.

    1\. Make yourself an admin.
    2\. Type in /editresources
3\. Make a tree or a rock or a fish.  Whatever resource you want.  As always, the interface is quite simple so you should be able to figure it out.
4\. Save it and type in /editmap
5\. Go to attributes and click resource (I think that's what it's called.)
6\. Choose the resource and place them wherever you want.
    7\. Now type in /edititem.
8\. Create a hatchet or pickaxe or fishing pole item.  Whichever one you want depending on which resource you made.
9\. On the bottom of the item options there should be an area labeled, "Tools" (Again, I'm not sure if that's the name.)  In that area, set the options to go with the tree or rock or fish, depending on which resource you made.
10\. Save it and as long as you have that tool item equipped, you should be able to cut down trees, mine rocks or fish fish.  Again, depending on which resource and tool you made.

Repeat this for whatever resources you want to create.
Sorry if that was a bit confusing.  I didn't edit it or anything.  Plus, I haven't worked much with a resources.

  9. @Robin:

    > You haven't caused anything. It's simply two different parties being equally vocal.
    >
    > I created Origins to change the standards of Eclipse and give everyone a solid base to work on. I did not make this so you could make a game in one day and be done with it. Instead of making people want to work harder like I originally intended, I've got dozens of kids who're so damn spoilt by what I've done that all they spend their time doing is begging me to do work for them, complaining that the engine isn't exactly what they wanted and just generally being little shits.
    >
    > On the other side you've got the elitists who think that just because they've got a bit of knowledge that they're above everyone else. They seem to think that telling people to do shit themselves and to learn how to program is cool, all the time relying on my work in a most hypocritical fashion. Seriously, some of them were asking the exact same questions just months before, and now they get a tiny bit of knowledge they think they're the bee's fucking knees.
    >
    > Both these groups are equally annoying. The only reason I even work on Origins any more is because of the silent majority who use the engine patiently, report bugs properly, have a thirst for knowledge and are willing to push themselves outside their comfort zone to learn new things.

Thanks for this post Robin.  Seriously, this really helped me to understand you and your engine.  As many other people have said, great job on Eclipse!  Thank you for making the best 2d mmo engine out there!
