  1. Hello, if you haven't joined the slack already please send me your email so that I can invite you! In any case, let's amp our staff activity and chatter in slack as much as possible. From here on out you'll be expected to increase your presence on the site as well as slack. This is because the site is going to undergo some major updates and I'd like all staff to be around, vigilant and active as possible. For those of you who don't read the admin section, I'll be sending a copy of this to all staff members in a pm. Thank you.

    Regards,
           Shinji
  2. Currently it's going to be from scratch without the use of libraries due to limitations with the libraries, this is the decision of the deveoper(s) atm. As far as features we'll focus more on getting a solid foundation, optimization vs stuffed with cool features in the beginning. Hopefully get a prototype out of some sort, but you shouldn't expect to see a fully featured engine for about a year.
  3. It's a main engine change because Eclipse Worlds isn't being supported by its developer. Jaxx is consistent with updates and people like his engine so it will serve as a placeholder as we begin to shift to the Java engine. I'll see about the Github repository, may be very helpful, but atm it's not even bare bones so there's little to nothing to work off of.
  4. Hey everyone, I know I haven't been very consistent with updates and you haven't heard much on the Java engine. I've taken some advice from a few members in a recent skype chat, we've made some new plans and hopefully I can bring better news to you later. Just wanted to share this with y'all!

We've placed Jaxx on the development team as his engine will head to the front as the official supported engine, more about this will be explained in another topic. This will help us by giving us time to work on the Java engine while Jaxx pushes out consistent updates with his engine. Thank you all.

    Regards,

  5. Hi, short and simple we're short handed on staff and could use more help moderating the forums. The site activity has increased slightly, however there's not many staff members on the roster atm, but the ones who are here could use some help. If you're planning to apply we're fully aware that you're volunteering, but you're taking on a responsibility as well and we'd like you to treat it as such. We're looking for people who won't abuse their power, have some experience or back ground with moderating/programming and are good with interacting. You'll need to be able to hand out justice without bias.

Be aware at times your job can be boring, during those times it means your job is being done right and members are behaving well. If you don't have time to dedicate to this position in some consistent manner, this is not for you. If you're accepted and quit and or you're kicked from the team there will be no do-over and you'll never have a chance at a position here again. You'll need to be some form of mature and vigilant for rule breaking. You'll need to participate in cleaning up topics as well as being prepared to handle forum organization at a minimal level.

As for developers most of that above applies to you, however you'd be involved in developing a stable engine.

    **The current position openings** :
    Moderator
    Developer
    Web developer

You'll create a form and message me directly, you can use the following as a guideline to filling out an application:

    **Name**:

    **Age**:

**What position are you applying for**?

**If Developer/Web Developer what languages do you program in?**

    **Previous experience**:

    **Reason for joining**:

**Amount of time you can put towards the site**:

**What would you do if one of your friends broke the rules**?

**How long have you been here at Eclipse**?

The above is what you can use as a guideline to filling out an application. Message me, Link, directly here on eclipse or on skype (Zarachi6)
  6. Lately I've been hinting at a few ideas I've been working on, as I haven't been directly involved with updates on the website due to my work schedule and other projects related to the success of Eclipse. I'm ready to discuss those plans among the staff team now before releasing it publicly on the site.

Eclipse Gaming is an ideal behind re-branding the website, but not so much as completely changing what we do here at Eclipse. Soon Eclipse will no longer be ran as just an indie site, but an actual company. So what does "Eclipse Gaming" have to do with this? It's a sponsorship program that I'll be launching soon that will branch from Eclipse the idea is to sponsor up coming promising developers and players who stream and or record creative videos of game-play. This project already has investors with me being the founder and CEO leading it. The investors and I have already been conducting meetings, creating business plans and layouts as well as reaching out to a wide variety of publishers and networks.

Eclipse Gaming, we'll sell apparel ranging from shirts, sweaters, caps and more. Our top sponsored clients will receive minor apparel for free for fan giveaways and the ability to give out discount codes to their fan base. Our methods of generating revenue will be through our shops, ads, and a percentage from our sponsored players (Very small percentage) and a percentage of all revenue will be given back through charity. It's time to revolutionize what Eclipse Origins was, a laughing stock.

We have investors, but we've also already gathered a couple of popular streamers and YouTube commentators alike. The expected launch date is set at 8/30/2015 of course we expect there might be minor set backs, this being the reason it has not been posted publicly. I'm already in the process of having the logo branded on clothing, I'm also having a small quantity of gear imported from China including gaming head sets, pc controllers and more, made possible by the investors and I. Each streamer and commentator of course will be expected to go into a contract with us, this being for the safety of both sides.

The next portion of this discussion is Eclipse Engine/ Eclipse Origins as a website and the mission of the staff. I hope you guys have not forgotten what your roles are and soon this will become a much more serious environment to an extent. Things will need to be handled in a manner of professionalism of course we're all still hobbyist here for the time being so there's no real pressure among y'all, but if you're going to assume a title here make sure you're enforcing the rules and guidelines. You've done a great job thus far and I think the summer has started off great.

Eclipse Origins or Eclipse Engine will of course always have indie development as a target, but soon I hope to get away from the idea of just multiplayer games and really allow the members to choose different portions of creativity with development, I no longer want Eclipse to limit itself or the community. I expect soon the community will grow as I have even more things going on behind the scenes. Be prepared, I don't think this site will ever be the same.

This is a rough draft and put simply the idea is to create a network to help developers and players in general.

    Regards,

  8. I heard there's supposed to be an announcement for FF7 coming to ps4, I'm assuming xbox one as well. I don't know much about E3 though.
  9. Hello community, everyone has been unbanned. This was not something I wanted initially however I think it's only right. I have not any resentment towards those banned in the past. This is not a let's change for the better speech rather with the new site and different goals amongst the owners we feel there is no need to keep you banned due to rulings of our predecessors, your slate starts here and now, do with this what you will. I'm not going to give a bull crap speech about how we should all hug and get along, that's just  not going to happen. We have different goals for the site and I won't be throwing them out there but instead focusing on making them happen, just expect change for better or worse. If you're curious stick around and find out.

  11. I'm actually only looking for six people Matt, it says that in the post.  As far as the project manager, from what I understood they were able to multi task in the project which is why I gave myself the title, at-least that's the description in the game industry roles. I wouldn't be able to contribute much in any other programming language, but the vb6 prototype. I'll be funding where needed in the project as far as art and web development etc.

I've been around eclipse for a while before being the owner, I've done a few projects I know not to look for a huge team. The post is a bit incomplete as some positions will be paid, I haven't had time to edit. As far as some positions on the team, I've already got some people hence I separated the current team spots vs. what I'm looking for. Thanks for the input guys. The original post has been updated with which positions are paid.
  12. Hey eclipse, I'm reaching out to the community for a few helpful hands. I've been fixing to work on this game project for a while now and I'm finally ready to gather the team. I've waited until the right time where I could have all the proper resources to complete a prototype. I'm still working on a flow chart for the direction of the game as well as mechanics.

The prototype will be from an eclipse based engine, the final product will not.

    **Intro:**

In a world where dragon masters train to be the strongest, only very few can claim the title of a Draconi Legend. Travel vast lands, grow with your dragon partner, and discover new fearsome dungeons! Interact with players, test your skills in pvp, climb the leader board. Become a Draconi Legend.

    **About:**

Draconi Legends takes place in an ancient period where Dragons still existed. In this era certain children were blessed at birth with a dragon partner, their souls being linked as one. This was known as "The conqueror's gift."

Not every child was born this way, but few were gifted. During birth an angel of the sacred army would appear carrying an egg that matched the spirit of the child. This egg contained an embodiment of the child's spirit, their eternal partner.

Most children born with this gift set out to become Draconi Legends; one who has mastered their spirit. The world map of Draconi legends is divided up into 5 parts, each part being its own nation. Each nation lived in harmony after a war that brought about chaos a millennia ago.

Long ago there was one lone Draconi Legend whose evil heart created something horrific, he was the strongest of all the Draconi Legends but he found no satisfaction in not having an equal adversary, so he set out to destroy the other Draconi Legends one by one, and so, many fell victim to his wrath.

This evil spirit gathered many from the dark forces as he soon wanted total control over the five nations, and with no Draconi Legends who could stand up to him his dream soon became a reality, until one day a direct descendent from the sacred army was born, this was the prodigal child. Seeing new hope, a group of elders sheltered and nurtured the child until his prophecy was to be fulfilled.

The child and his draconic partner would lead the still remaining Draconi Legends into battle against this formidable foe. As the epic battle was coming to a close the two forces came face to face at last, as to what happened that day still remains a mystery, it was said to be written by the elders but stowed away. No one is certain how or what happened, but during the battle both legions were no longer in existence. Not a trace of either army remained, but only a desolated battle field.

    **How to apply:**

  13. Wishing Crest and you luck. I remember looking at the code for this, many things to be changed if you want to get anywhere with this at all. My best advice is to not waste your time, because you'll probably find later after you've added many cool little nippy features, that there's just one bit of something in the engine that can't be fixed. I wouldn't want to see you rage quit Pokémon.

Then again, you said this was just a side thing.
  14. Realistically we got rid of the only members poisoning the community to begin with. It was just a phase. Of course there will always be someone from the crowd, but I'm keeping my eyes open. This just means the staff team as a whole is doing its job. Good going.

Only progress can be made from here on out.
