  1. I would like to get this kicked off as soon as possible. The thing we were waiting on was Lycrios, but I'm thinking about learning to do the switch myself. It might take a bit of time not to mention the delay I'll have time wise. If you guys missed the message a member of the site stepped up and was one of the old developers for mirage. It seems like he's willing to donate an IPB license. The small complication I've ran into now is that we no longer have a developer for IPB, actually I'm not entirely sure that's true. Creator might be able to do it, but I haven't touched basis with him on it recently. In any case our primary goal is the IPB switch, but we do still expect the SMF switch to take place sometime in the near future, that's all up to Lycrios.
  2. Hello staff,

The title probably has you wondering what the topic is about. As you know we've been planning to switch forum software for a while now and it seems it's finally around the corner. I've been waiting until the switch to announce an event I'm planning for Eclipse, I call it "King of Games" the point of the contest will be to have members on the site and outside the site gather a team with a maximum of 5-6 people and create the best game they can within a set period of time.

The contest will create its own money pool because for every contestant the entry fee would be 5-10$ (still undecided) and in order to get people to enter I'd create a base prize(from my own pockets)
I had in mind to make it where you could use any engine or language of your team's choosing. This is so that there are no limits within the contest. I figure having the base prize might just be a confidence booster or 'incentive'

Upon switching to SMF we'll go back to the old theme. I'll be sending out an email blast to the 50k members which quite a bit might be spam and some inactive emails, however I'll notify them of the event.

This was my first plan to jump-start the community upon switching software, but I don't plan to stop there. Some of you may remember the networking idea I had planned a while back. This will also be introduced during the contest where I expect a spike in activity. Eclipse will announce its step towards becoming a network for game developers as well as streamers and gamers. We'll sponsor anyone aspiring to be a developer or streamer like other networks do. With this I'd be creating the brand 'Eclipse Gaming'

I'm still not done. Upon announcing all of this I'll also finally move on to get Eclipse greenlit on steam. I've had a developer working behind the scenes on a new engine and didn't want to say anything due to the fact of constant disappointment, I'll greenlight eclipse hopefully reaching an even bigger audience. I also want to move eclipse away from being strictly MMO driven and possibly opening up to story mode games as well.

Upon all of this you can expect a change in the staff roster, I'll pick who I see fit to stick around. I've been purposely letting people in the shoutbox say what they will and watching to see which staff members take action. You'll know soon enough if you're moving on to "New Eclipse."

I've not said a single thing to any of the supposed "developers" for a while because they're in the same boat as far as seeing who takes initiative and who doesn't.

**EDIT: REPLY ONCE YOU'VE READ THIS.**

    Regards,

  3. The were many features we wanted to implement that the developers find it more complicated to do through MyBB such as profile customization, social media integration and many more features that could be named. Things like recent donations and donation goals and things like that were also much easier to do in IPB. Also I enjoy IPB more for design. There were more things that aren't capable of being done in MyBB that need to be done, but with all due respect again that would kind of spoil the surprise. To my understanding IPB is less developer friendly, but better feature wise and even though MyBB is ok for developers it seems to still limit capabilities. I would rather have switched to SMF over it, but in the end the choice is IPB.
  4. Hi everyone,

The reason I'm posting here today is because Eclipse needs help in order to switch forum software! The new IPB license will cost somewhere around 200$ I'm asking the community to help raise that! Eclipse is setting a donation goal of 200$ in order to complete the switch. After the switch real development of the website can begin as MyBB is holding us back from any plans of promotion or anything along those lines.

For those who do donate all you'd have to do is send me a message, you'll get a new group on the new site and you'll also have access to something in store that other members wont be able to get their hands on easily and of course my gratitude. That is all I can release for now. The people who donated will be listed in this topic and elsewhere so that they may claim their prize on the new site.

You can find the donation button on the right side of the shoutbox or message me for details. Thank you.

    Donations:
    CMFiend420 : 3$
    Benjo: 10$
    Marsh: 10$
    Matt: 10$
    ussenterprise: 10$
    FaKku : 10$
    Puregamemale : 40$
    coffeeraptor: 17$

  5. Hi everyone,

We're planning to make yet another switch, we're reverting back to IPB. I know you guys are a bit fed up with the switches and hopefully this is the last one for a while. We can't do what is needed using MyBB as it's limited for the plans in mind. The engines will still be worked on and a version of this site will be up until the changes are complete before making the switch. There is no expected date as of now, but you will be alerted before the switch happens. Expect some downtime during the switch and hopefully we can bring you some cool features along with the switch! Due to this, do not expect any major site updates for a while as they will be meaningless.

I'm aware some of you thought the last software we used was fine, however there were problems on the development side which were preventing some updates. We don't expect to have this issue since the last one was induced from an inherited IPB license. This license will be purchased rather than inherited. Thanks for your time.

  6. The rules are being updated, however, asking for support will no longer be against them. People should be able to ask for help in the shoutbox and I'd like to think members wouldn't mind answering questions they have an answer for. If not answering, at-least referring them somewhere else.
  7. **Hi Eclipsians,**

You've probably noticed the new site slider as it sticks out quite well. You'll be able to get a custom banner for your game for a flat rate of **10$/month**. To get your ad placed all you have to do is message me and we'll work out the rest of the details. It's nice to be able to pay, however, we'll be choosing some games that catch our attention and putting them up there for free.

This will be known as the featured games banner, a sort of incentive for members to try their best to maintain their game development in the hopes of having it placed in the featured games spotlight. What's better than seeing your own ad each time you visit the site? Well, I suppose just about everyone else who visits seeing the same thing.

Here are some site statistics using google ad-sense/performance reports. Roughly 10-12k views per week average of about 3-4$ per week.
