  1. Just to clarify. I didn't piss off the dev team, if that's what they've told you I'm not sure where it came from. They left for completely different reasons. I will say this though, I've been ATTACKED by Skyward on this forums on multiple occasions one after another, this being another one of those posts and to be honest if I was any bit abusive or what he makes me out to be wouldn't he have been banned a while ago? I could honestly give a fuck anymore.
  2. **Hello Eclipsians,**

It's been a while since I've felt this good about making a post, but I believe the time is here. After a long dry spell, broken promises, disagreements and things not going our way I've finally found "The team." yes, we are "The team." :'D

For the first time in a long time, I truly think Eclipse now has a solid team with solid developers who have a passion for this shit and want to make the site better than what it ever was and I hope you support us all the way. It has been a real struggle trying to make things happen and hell we're not even there yet, but I see promise and I see light at the end of the tunnel of consistent fuckups. I can't say I've been the best at leading this site up until now and I still have many things to learn, but I'm learning…learning and constantly evolving into less of a jackass.

Without dragging this out I'd like to introduce "The team."

  3. You're absolutely right about people needing to see changes vs a paragraph of words. I also agree about the attitude in the people running the place, that's pretty much the reasoning for the paragraph though because we are changing the atmosphere of how the place is ran. Time will tell though.
  4. Hey everyone,

Eclipse is changing a lot behind the scenes, and one of those changes is how the community is going to be managed.

I still own the eclipse domains, the website, etc., but I am stepping down as the “forum owner”, and joining the ranks of the other admins. When the “owner” title was introduced, the forums were starting to feel more corporate, and less like a community. We need to come together towards fixing this place, and I think the best way to do that would be to bring the life and fun back into the community.

Eclipse was and should be a community for game developers again; not a company to try and squeeze the money out of the members’ pockets. When I bought eclipse from Amish, we changed a lot, but I don’t think we changed enough, unfortunately. This is the first of many steps to try and mend the wounds caused by poor “management”.

When I first joined, 7 years ago, I loved coming here, hanging out with you guys, occasionally making games, and just joking around. There were definitely some members that tried to turn the place into a cesspool of negativity, but we thrived by continuing to just have fun and make games.

We’re going to make eclipse the community that you knew and loved once again, without all of the corporate nonsense.

There will still be business-y things in the background, but the main focus for the community will be to be a community—nothing more.

    Regards,

  5. Going into the new site we'll be using slack much more often. Please be active on slack as I'll be wanting to talk to you guys through it. If you aren't on the slack please post your email here.

  6. You know who you are, you leaked the photos of the new site plans and because of that you've fucked the rest of the team. No one will recieve updates except the developers and now the team will get the updates at the same time as the members.

Maybe you'll have the balls to step up and say something. I don't get why you'd leak the images when you know (it was only meant for the staff's eyes) you're unloyal and I'm really disappointed. It also sucks that the rest of the team has to be punished because you made a shitty choice. Thanks.

  7. I never tried selling the engine, even if I had, the license was signed over to me. I think you're confusing me with Amish in which case he still had the right to sell the engine as the license was signed over to him. Personal opinions don't really matter or what people think they may know, only the people in which have had the site transferred to them or have tranferred the site know it. The rest is just member drawn conclusions. This would be a different case if just the site had been handed down and Amish had not gotten the license agreement from Robin. But I don't really know much about legal stuff and it doesn't matter because it's vb6 and personally no one gives a shit.

    Sincerely,
              DTK
  8. Yes, yes you can. Guess every other owner beat me to the punch. There's nothing in the current license you can violate that includes selling a game made with the engine, in fact I encourage it, sucks that's it's vb6 right now. Now if you tried to re-sell the engine as your own, that might violate some things within the license for obvious reasons and it would disrespect the developers who put their hard work into it. Goodluck! ^_^

  9. @'Colonello':

    > Looking very nice. :) Although I'm not really a fan of the logo that's seen in the middle of the navigation bar (unless that's just a placeholder for the actual logo as you stated the actual one hasn't been implemented yet) I do love the market and how everything is laid out!

So the idea behind Yogi (the creature in the middle) is that he's the new mascot for Eclipse. Original character I created. May be subject to change, but I like it atm.
  10. The sale of plugins is something I'm looking into, however the main thing is finding a way to secure it so that one person can't just buy it and re-sell it. We're thinking of having it randomly generate an authentication for each specific person who buys it so that if they try to distribute it to someone else who doesn't have the same authentication code or something along those lines it wont work. Also yeah same style for other outlets.
  11. Hi everyone,

We finished the site design and as I promised I'm going to upload some previews for you guys. Shortly after this Daniel and I will actually work on the site (him mostly with the programming, I'll be dealing with the hosting and licenses) following this we'll have an estimated trial date for you guys soon. My plan is to have all the staff be able to access the site first to get a good feel of how things work. We'll have a staff meeting discussing new roles and what should be done by everyone in that group!

Here are previews of the site:

    [](http://imgur.com/a/gFY4o)[](http://imgur.com/a/gFY4o)[Click ME!!](http://imgur.com/a/gFY4o)

As you can see it's still just the mockup so ignore the home page always being selected! The actual logic will be implemented soon as well as other images. I'm having some music created as well as art for the new engine so that I can make an official video introducing the new idea behind Eclipse Gaming and the Engine on our youtube channel (which I'll be making soon along with other social media outlets)

    Regards,

  12. The prototype will just be a staff release, shortly after should be a public release. The reason for the staff release first is to get familiarization with the new tools and read the new rules/guidelines for staff members.

Also, I've decided we might use the old staff tags and follow the 2012/2013 color scheme for staff/members.
  13. Hello Eclipse Staff,

You guys have probably already seen the post by Matt about the new engine that I have him working on. Along with that, creator and I have been working on the new website and I wanted to update everyone on the upcoming changes.

So as I announced a while back Eclipse was going to become Eclipse gaming, a network that offers an free to use 2D MMorpg Engine for those who aspire to be game developers or designers. Eclipse Gaming will also have a sponsorship program that will include features similar to publishers like steam one of those being Eclipse GO! "EGO" where users can "Get the GO!" by submitting an application with their software whether it be a game created with our engine or something else. Think of it like Greenlight for steam. The games that "Get the GO!" will be featured on our site for free and sponsored by us through our social media outlets.

Daniel and I have been recently working with an artist for the new web designs which I will post previews of in the near future. The new website will include a market where people can sell their products and of course those who have "The GO" will be featured on the market and prioritized. The basis of the new plan is simplicity meaning we'll offer a dummy proof engine, a place where the communtiy creates its own resources through the members and center of traffic for people who want to be developers can express their work to members simply wanting to play games or create them.

As far as the website goes I'm creating a flow chart, but we hope to have a prototype done within the next month or so. I'm paying for the IPS license and hosting it as well. Daniel (creatorfromhell) will be handling most of the backend work as far as maintenance and the database. We've discussed new user groups and as of now the staff team will look like this:

    **Staff Team:**
    Owner - Owner
EGD - Eclipse Gaming Dev or Engine Dev (Undecided)
    WT - Web Team
    ET - Engine Tech
    ADM - Admin
    ART - Art Team
FM or MOD - Forum Moderator

**The job roles are as follow:**
**Owner** - I will oversee the site operations, manage the team, manage expenses and help with development of the site and engine. I'll primarily market the site in the early stages.
**EGD** - The Engine Devs will focus on pushing out updates for the current engine as well as fixing bugs. They will also be apart of offering dev support to gold members.
**WT** - The Web Team will focus on site maintenance and optimization.
**ET** - Engine Techs will be people who are knowledgable about bugs and fixes that have been found for the engine and will be assigned to answering the questions of members needing help in that section of the forums.
**ADM** - The Admin Team will primarily manage the moderation and forum organization.
**ART** - The Art Team will design forum art as well as basic art for the engine such as characters, items and the GUI.
**FM/MOD** - The Moderation Team will focus on keeping peace among the members. This includes managing member topics and keeping the forums clean.

    **Member Titles:**
    Grunt
    Novist Gamer
    Advanced Gamer
    Super Gamer
    Epic Gamer
    Senior Gamer
    **Eclipsian**

    **Miscellaneous Member Titles:**
    **Legend**
    Veteran
    Contest Winner
    Contributor
    Gold Member

**Colors are undecided, feel free to give input. **

**Golden Package -** The golden package will be 100% optional. The golden package will include hosting from us as well as engine support from the dev team. The Dev team will get profit as well as the site from the golden package purchases.

**Eclipse Board of directors:** Eclipse will probably be ran as a board at some point in a sense. The people on the board will be the most trusted by me. This will allow for fair decisions to be made for the site later on based on a vote. These decisions will be those that can have a huge negative or positive impact on the site. As the owner I'll be allowed to use veto if needed making my vote count as two. The board members will share profits made by the site or according to your job title. A member of any staff group can still be a board member (when chosen) however you'll remain in that group, but you'll have a designated tag ( a tag for board members only)

The current possible roster for board members excluding me: Agoraphobic, Creatorfromhell, and Matt. To be added to the roster can't be a request, the only way to be added is to show promise of contribution to the project's success as the above members have done.

The first couple of board members will be those who show dedication throughout the starting phase of the project and have contributed to making it a success. Only I will be able to bring in new board members. Board members cannot be removed from the board by me alone, but must be removed by a vote of the current members (including me)

I, as the owner, ignore the above statement and cannot be kicked by vote, but can only step down or pass on ownership.

    Regards,
             Link
  14. Hello all,

I'm looking for a skilled artist who is willing to create a logo and web design based on my instructions. You should be able to draw the logo I describe and vector it if needed. You should be skilled in drawing as well. Pay can be discussed on skype, but the payment method is paypal.

Add me on skype for more details : zarachi6
  15. The mechanics aren't that different from a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon styled game. If you want real time battle that's efficient you need to have it set up where maps are randomly generated(when you battle someone) and players who engage are taken to those maps (sort of like a stage so to speak) you can see where you'd need a more efficient language if you wanted to handle a larger scale later on. I'd say that after the battle a player is either sent to the last pc they visited or the map they were on when the battle request was made.

This though, is a pretty simple and nice little intro for the idea though. Don't think there's much capable with it using Eclipse.
