    Sweetness!
  2. Most of them are not truly clones though. Like Sub-Zero and Scorpion, they look similar, but they don't have the same moves. I think the developers were just too lazy to make new characters so they just changed their colors and moves. Which is fine with me because I don't really care what that characters look like too much, I just want to kick butt and do my fatality. Is that too much to ask?!
  3. That's actually a pretty good idea! Maybe not as currency though, but more of a quest? Like an NPC would say, "Hey, I have this sheet music, but I can't figure out the right notes. Could you help me?" You would then kill some monsters who would drop these notes. When you have them all you return the notes to the NPC and he gives you the sheet music as a reward.

I'm digging the creativity here! Moar! MOAR!
  4. What's some of your favorite video game quotes? They don't necessarily have to be funny or well known, just some good ones.

    Some of my favs:
"It's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum… but I'm all outta gum." -Duke Nukem

    "Finish Him!" -Mortal Kombat announcer

    "Counter-Terrorists win!" -Counter-Strike announcer
  5. Johnny Cage! You've returned!! Not that I actually use him though, more of a Sub-Zero fan, but still nice to see him back. And I hope they have some of the old fatalities, not just new ones.
  6. Being me, I'm totally excited to see a new non-handheld Zelda game. The graphics look fantastic! The items looks fun, though I'm a little unsure of that new beetle thing, the whip looks interesting and I like the new ability to roll bombs instead of tossing them. Wii Motion Plus looks like a great implementation, though I have not tried it myself I will buy it just for this game. As for the story, which is the most important part in my opinion, I'm hoping they change it up kinda like Majora's Mask. They need to take a break from Ganon, and change it up a bit.

Also, about the title, does Skyward Sword mean "With swords held high"? That's how I interpreted it, I was just wanting to know you guys' thoughts on the title.
  7. @Sir:

    > I got pissed at Jagex for messing up Runescape and said, "Fine Juckex, I'll make my own game where the power is the players!" So I go on google and find a 3d MMO maker and I was like, "OMG! that would 1\. kill my pockets 2\. I have no idea how to use that thing." So I look for a 2D MMO maker and boom Eclipse! Of course I did not know how to use Eclipse so I got on the forums, my best idea ever.

That's the exact same way I found Eclipse! The only difference is my game is not coming along very nicely.

"coming from me?!" you, sir are a bad flirt who targets little asian boys on his free time
Am I supposed to be incapable of saying something mean from time to time?

No, because if you are mean to Kreator, it makes him seem less mean, and he would never let that happen  :P

Yep, I have not really thought of many names but some are "Shout at the Devil" and "Eruption".

    > @Uh-nig-muh, no pointing fingers to corporations, now. It's a producer's choice as to how a game will look, sound, and play. I totally agree with you on "players will realize that they love games no matter what style 2d or 3d just as long as they are having fun" though.
    >
    > Though a little off topic, lets remember it was that game crash in the 80's that allowed Nintendo to come out on top. In a chaos theory (that's your precious butterfly effect) sort of way, lets remember that crappy games paved the way to a higher standard and thus better games. If someone makes a failure of a game, their loss. Everyone else will move on and laugh at their mistake.

I know he can, that's why I like to mess with him :P

And just because the producers make the games, its the corporations that push it. They don't have to push a game harder if they don't want to, or they can make it system exclusive if they think its really great.
  14. Either A) You over analyzed my post and did not understand the intentions of it or B) someone ranted on one of your posts and now you feel you must hate everyone else. from your strange comments I'm guessing its A but since you are Kreator it might be B.

First off, you obviously did not understand the whole thing was a rage joke, so I'll clarify some things for you.

    >
    > How old are you?? Puzzles are a common and great aspect in video games, especially today.

Did I say they were a bad aspect? I don't recall.

This was simply a joke at the fact that many people are getting lazier, they tend to go for the simple games rather than spending time figuring out the logic in a puzzle. Is this a good thing? Hell no. Do I agree with that thought process? Of course not, but sadly it is that of many consumers.

    > > Most of you would look at this game and say, 3D? What a piece of crap.
    >
    > I laughed out loud, your judgement of others is so badly wrong it's not funny. Ocarina of time had the best 3D graphics seen in 1998, possibly even the following year as well. However, it's not to say that the gameplay and story didnt live up to the graphics, because it certaintly did. Ocarina of time is still today, often referred to the greatest game of all time.

Obviously you didn't read it all. I also stated that my favorite game of all time is Ocarina of Time. Yes, many people refer to it as so, but is the current consumer? Not really. I also stated that the graphics were great for the time, but if you read the context of the quote "Most of you would look at this game today…" by which I meant those who had not experienced the game before. Many people don't appreciate it as a great game because they have not experienced the rise of 3D, which was my major point in my entire shitpile.

It seems your judgment of people is so badly wrong, the developers of games no longer care about what people have played in the past, they are only focused on the future and making money. Where is the money at? It's with the parents of children who beg for the "hit new games" and they will be satisfied by almost anything, as long as it is visually appealing. People with common sense like you and I would say that we would rather have a great game than great graphics, but as Azure and I were saying earlier, we are the pickier kind who won't buy a game if it's not up to par with what we want, developers don't want to wait for us to be satisfied, they're just pumping out games and pumping in cash.

Sure this is a rant towards greedy companies, but it still gets my point across of what we want out of graphics, what is happening with graphics, and what developers point of view of is in the need of graphics.

    @Azure:

    > Guacamole: Nice fail rant man.

Actually, I agree. I probably should not of taken the whole industry into account, I appologize.

    Gonna steal that idea :P
  16. Alright, wanna hear a story? You see kids, back in the day when games were all 2D, they made a amazing little game called The Legend of Zelda. It was very simple, the characters were little blurs on the screen, but not so blurry to where you could not see them at all. You could tell the character was a green man with a sword and shield, and that you were in a world filled with monsters. They didn't have strategy guides in this time, so you would just aimlessly wonder around, but you didn't care! The thrill of seeing a virtual world other than our own was fantastic, and the thought of adventure without the actual risks was exciting. The best part was the puzzling dungeons. I know what you kids are thinking, "Puzzles? I have to think in a video game?!" Yes, there was a time were intelligence was actually necessary in playing video games. You would have to go in certain rooms to unlock others and gain items to slay the monster who was at the end of the dungeon and to help unlock other items in the next.

Then, about the time you kids were probably born, they came out with a system called the Nintendo 64\. And guess what game they released for it? That's right! A new Zelda game, Ocarina of Time! The thought sent chills down my spine. If I thought the old one was amazing, what will come of this one?! And it WAS amazing! So amazing I still call it my favorite game to this day.  It had all the same puzzles and adventure as the old game, but it was 3D!

Most of you would look at this game and say, 3D? What a piece of crap. well listen to the end of my story…

After the release of the Nintendo Wii, they released a game called Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It was said to be the most action packed Zelda with the highest graphics of the time. I was pumped and bought it the day it came out. I was ready for some awesome old school Zelda action, when suddenly, there was no old school Zelda action. Grass that summons hawks? Transforming into a wolf? A giant ball and chain? What the hell was this? Why is there a random old western town in the middle of Hyrule? What the fuck did they do to my favorite game?

Moral of the story kiddos, graphics are not everything. I would rather play a deep, addicting 2D game or First Gen-3D game than a terrible realistic game. It's the gaming that makes the game, not the pictures.

    Translation:
(I know you were talking about handhelds, but it's the same situation really. Zelda had bad graphics and OoT had terrible 3D, but they were fun. Twilight Princess ruined the series by changing the gameplay along with the graphics. Too many games are made with the thought that kids don't want to think while they're playing games and try to make it eye appealing instead.)
  17. I'm not much of a console FPS fan, but I play A LOT of Garry's Mod and Counter-Strike: Source. My favorite part of CounterStrike is the ENORMOUS amount of maps,  the variety of gameplay on them and the lack of ranked guns. I'm sick of all the, "I'm level 70 Tenth Prestige!! I'm better than you!", Bullshit. I like the ability to buy weapons at the start of a round like Counter-Strike. This makes it more even, because anyone can buy a scout in Counter-Strike instead of 'leveling up' to use a sniper. That's ridiculous, then you have idiots running around saying, "Haha Noob! You have a score of 3-15!" Well maybe if you didn't have a fucking shotgun, and i didn't have this piece of shit starter gun, I'd be able to play the damn game.

Bottom line, a good FPS shouldn't be about who bought the game first and got all the guns unlocked. A person just starting should be able to kick just as much ass as a person who bought the game the day it came out. That's just my crack at the Call of Duty series though.

Second, I like the ability that many games are now adding (but Goldeneye 007 was the original) is the cover ability. It makes a game more realistic to cover behind a wall and shoot than to just run like an idiot towards them or crouch behind what little cover is above you.

Lastly, Creativity is my number one. I'm sick of playing the same maps, over, and over, and over again. Steam has a very nice map creation system, but even a simple one like Time Splitters map creator would be great. Also from Time Splitters, I like wide varieties of characters. I don't want to be a Marine every single time I play. I want to be a Monkey one day, then a cowboy the next, and maybe a couple zombies thrown in there XD

That's my take on FPS games, again I don't play many as I am not a fan, but if done correct they can be quite entertaining.
