  1. @Robin:

    > I never said otherwise. My point is that you can't change the standards just because of someone's experience level.

Different standards seems to be the controversy then. Obviously the programmer of Eclipse has higher standards than me. >.<
  2. Ok, granted it's not a work of art, but lets give him the benefit of the doubt here. I think it's a little more reasonable to compare his site to other sites being used for Eclipse than a professional site, which is expected to look good.
He's using a pre-built engine for his game. Not to say that Eclipse is bad in any sort of way, because that's not my point at all. That should be a good indicator however, that he's not capable of creating something that original or of the sort.
Of course it's not professional. I wouldn't expect that unless Ryochi was a professional developer building his own engine from scratch with a team of developers, including a paid graphic designer to build a web page with PHP.
Even still, some webs sites that have managed to make profit from their game haven't necessarily used attractive web sites, but perhaps that's a different topic..
Back on the topic and to my point, I don't think it looks terrible. Not compared to other sites using Eclipse and what others made of it. :cheesy: Just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth. I obviously felt the need to express it.
  3. Despite the simplicity and regardless of how it was made/generator/whatever i don't care anyway, it doesn't look bad. I was surprised when I saw it because after reading the negative comments I thought it would look like someone had taken a code from .webs and then switched out the images with others made from paint…
It really doesn't look that bad though. Not compared to other sites I've seen around here.
  4. Why not make the background on the site scrolling? It looked a little weird scrolling down the columns with a forest behind it that's not moving. :p
But the background actually looks pretty cool! It'll provide a perfect 2d style atmosphere for the game.
  5. Sent a PM. Hopefully you're still recruiting. :p
Here are a few maps I made with the xtremeworlds engine. I used the same tile sheets as eclipse. They're not very dynamical because they were the first few maps into the game, where I didn't want to spoil all of the good tiles. They were intended to be flat and a little raw. Unfortunately, I never got far enough into the game to show off better looking features, but it's all I have.

I think I have the same problem as IppyKez. Once I open the installer and it starts downloading, it freezes around half way through.
It freezes at the same spot for every download I've tried.
But I also might think that this only happens on this computer, because I've downloaded these files before on a different computer…
  7. That definitely fixed it! I appreciate it. ;) You can only imagine how difficult it would be to develop a game without editing the classes, news, Data, etc. :P

And thanks for the welcome! These forums have been very useful so far, and what a great community!
  8. Screenshot of me trying to save my Elements.ini file: (It does this for every file. I just randomly clicked on elements for the example)

Also, if you look to the left of the picture, I made sure that you can see where the "Eclipse" file is loacted in my C drive.
Local Disks (C:/ Drive) -> Program Files -> Eclipse -> Eclipse-Evolution-2.7 -> Client and Sever
  9. "Cannot create the C:/ Program
Make sure that the path and file name are correct."

I get this error every time I try to edit and save one of my files from either the client or the server.
My first guess was that I moved my folder or renamed something… but I checked all that I could think of, and nothing...
Could someone help me fix this?
