Tileset revamp

I'm not completely satisfied with my tilesets for a few reasons. Since my pixel skills only take me so far, I thought I'd give digipainting a try by revamping the old tiles and seeing how it turns out.

I'll post updates here. Feedback is welcomed ![:)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png)

Thanks for the comments guys.

**@Eckhart** This is a different kind of art, but Slym's no doubt a better pixel artist. And I'll take your advice on the outline.

**@ICT** I'll get on that.

Little update:

I was aiming for saturated tones with both bright and dark values - something I failed to achieve with my last two attempts. I guess my eye has grown dull because I'm not sure what you mean. How would you suggest the color be altered?

By too much emphasis do you mean it's too dark of a color or there's too much of it?

Thanks

I'd say the contrast feels a little high on the darkest shade, the foliage looks perfect if I focus on the lighter parts but as soon as I pay attention to the darkest shade it sticks out and looks pretty rough. I'm not sure if It's a good idea or not to tone down the darkest too much though, maybe experiment with some hue shifting to see if any other colors mesh much better at the same/similar intensity?

Also, I feel like the stump of the tree might look better if an extra root or two continued around the trunk, in the background if you get me. That might be my personal tastes though, just some food for thought.

I guess it depends on the style and scene your aiming for. The yellowy-hue and the range of dark shades makes it look like a tree found in a modern sewer swamp. It might just be my opinion however, but the choices in color (yellow hues, dark shades) and the details and style choice give me that impression and feeling. Your latest attempt feels more fantasy-inspired, but it still has a few of the same choices as mentioned. I'd definately like to see it in a scene or screenshot.

Haven't gotten around to the grass tile yet. Here's another teaser of progress.

As for the tree - I changed it slightly. Open to suggestions if it needs more alteration.

The little things at the top (their name escapes me) having straight line art seems kind of weird because everything else has little variations here and there whilst they don't.

Apart from that, wow, amazing work.
