Jay RH
Alright so lately I've been working hard as ever on the game and all, and I'm pretty much alright. I'm building a Pokemon MMO, and I just had to search all over for the right HG/SS overworld sprites and hunt down PMD tilesets, and of course fetch a phew patches of the music themes and stuff. But lately, I just haven't been feeling it. The first thing I plan to do is hurry and get the game open and playable, which is pretty much a little confusing for me, even asking a few questions and I still were in the dark, the top five tasks that I haven't completed are:1) Find seperate HG/SS overworld sprites. Of course the main thing in a game is what characters look like. Going to Spriter's Resource really fails because I'm trying to make it as easy as possible, because I'm dang sure not implying diagonal movements, and and if I did copy a sheet off Spriter's Resource I'd be walking around as the literal whole sheet.2) Find PMD tilesets. It's pretty much a problem, because there's barely anywhere I can pick up tilesets, it'd help if any of you reading this had ideas.3) Music. I'm planning to clear all Characters, Music, and eh not Tilesets because it has very cool sets (good job by the way on that creators of EO) and could serve as realistic homes and all. But the music has definitely gotta be added, not that I have any source.4) Copy the game and send it to a friend. This here is more trickier than my finding seperate sprites, it'll take me a while to do it.5) Recruit responsible members. When it comes to searching for a recruit, I rather not look for the talent, but what they're after and capable of. Lol gotta pick up some inspiration to try harder. Mal
I honestly don't see the purpose of this thread. It's more of a blog post than something that would lead to an open discussion. Wish ya luck.
Iscn
But is this a discussion or a plan for your game or just your general though about your mmo?Good luck & DON'T give up ![;)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png)

TheLordOfTheManor
Keep going! I once made a Pokemon MMO for just me and my friends and I think I still have sprites and tiles if you need them (except pokemon black/white)

SawQuart
Eclipse is the entry point into game development. If you can't handle it, you'll never handle the real world.

Jay RH
**Good news is I found a great place to grab my sprites. Now I just need to cover the error that goes 'File not found', because I added a sprite in, actually one PMD sprite, Bulbasaur, but indeed I removed every original Character and then added them in, like 1.bmp. I did it before, I did, but now it's like either I forgot it or I'm doing totally different. I noted one point I had this full sheet and walked around as the /whole/ sheet but I cannot test out the single sprite, I wonder what the problem is, I probably numbered it wrong or something, or is there something like 0.bmp?**

You will without a doubt run into people telling you or discouraging you not to do that of which you hoped to.
Stein
Yes, because using Pokémon and blatantly copying them is Inspiration. And an MMO with an engine that can barely handle 20-30 players on an average computer(I doubt many people here have a proper dedicated server) is just not feasible. Do encourage the kids to do impossible things or stupid bum candy. Note the part where I bolded POKÉMON MMO? Yeah, exactly.

Devogen
> Eclipse is the entry point into game development. If you can't handle it, you'll never handle the real world.Lol too true…Often I see people (not necessarily on this site, all the 2d forums) Who have great issues with doing something like adding sprites, or simply renaming files - yet they decide that its not good enough for them and they are 'going to use a 3d engine" and are never heard from again lol...you gotta learn to crawl before you can get drunk and fall over! Jeff
> Might as well point it out… bmp is the wrong format.> > You need GIF or PNG depending on version.GIF is never the right type. Use bmp for old EO and png for Eclipse 3.0 and later
Jay RH
Actually, I have no problem now. I got the sprites I needed, though I wish there was some way to automatically set them in order. I have 493 sprites to throw into the Characters. I blame Arceus for those extra forms. From now, I'll have to name all 493 of them, but then again I'll find some type of way to have them automatically named in order. If not I'll do it myself. Sprites are cleared, I'm starting to add Items now, and I'll test a few tilesets. For a test I added in a Pokemon theme from the actual anime and nothing popped up. I'm using 3.10 atm, so I'll be trying to find out why exactly the music's failing to work. There's no error or anything, just silence. Next I'll go toward releasing the game to my current team, so everything's smooth. I asked around like 8 times but from there nothing fazes me. If it doesn't work I find out the problem immediately. If it's anything I should know about myself is I'm a fast learner. By the way thanks to those who gave me the advice. Doing good. All there is to do is find Music, Tilesets, and then figure out sending the game to my team.Edit: Instead of PMD, I'm using HG/SS overworlds. SawQuart
> All there is to do is find Music, Tilesets, and then figure out sending the game to my team. So… you're not adding any items or mapping or anything? Just adding resources?

For now I'm adding the most important things. Overall it's good going for me. From using Eclipse I'm learning things that could actually help in the future.
