> Looks really good, especially the graphics. If mapped correctly with the same quality consistently it will be one epic game!

Thanks dude!

> I love that you narrowed the stats/attributes down to just 3\. Seems like it would be efficient and easy to build a character.

I thought it would both compliment the feel and aim of the game, and be efficient considering what aspects and abilities they represent and alter. Seems to have worked out well, but testing will be the final judge!

Maces and consumables are done! Here's a small sample of what's done for the first release:

Currently making some revisions to previous art, and will continue to work on finishing all the item content for the first release!

Oh wow, I love your pixel style. It's so simplistic, yet detailed. I can't wait to see more from you!

Still designing the game and content!

> I strive to be as professional and realistic as I can in regards to developing this game. Over the past year or so, I've spent time working on graphics and designing every aspect of the game. This is a project which I'll fund, either through a site such as kickstarter, or by myself. I'm currently working on the final design aspects, and more graphical content. Hopefully in the near future I'll be able to start internal development.

Progress is going great though. The soundtrack is completed (might show off more tracks soon), most aspects of the game are designed, and I'm probably about half way through the initial graphics.

Something I notice with more and more games today, is that there is little connection with an item's stats and its appearance. Take this for example, what weapon do you think from the game 'Maple Story' is the most powerful?

![](http://global.hidden-street.net/sites/global.hidden-street.net/files/eqs/DoomSceptor.png?1324077656)Doom Sceptor

![](http://global.hidden-street.net/sites/global.hidden-street.net/files/eqs/onehandbl032.gif?1243651174)Hammer

![](http://global.hidden-street.net/sites/global.hidden-street.net/files/eqs/onehandbl006.gif?1243652847)Plunger

The plunger is a level 25 item, dealing 44 damage, followed by the lvl 15 hammer dealing 34 damage and then the level 10 doom sceptor dealing 29.

Another example, from Torchlight-

What is the name of this weapon? Short Sword. At level 11 you are able to wield this 'short sword'.

In Elandor Chronicles, I'm aiming to make the weapon icons accurate in terms of measuring and comparing stats and strengths. Although some manner of enchanting or upgrading may be developed for a future release, each item will initially be individually designed with a realistic and accurate icon and name.

You won't pick up a standard looking 'longsword' or the likes, which may unexpectedly deal fire damage, or leech life. However a rarer 'ceremonial dagger' may be able to leech life, or frequently cause bleeding wounds.

I noticed that in some games too. It bothers me because almost all classical and some modern games that have stuck to tradition give access to simple looking weapons in the beginning then as you progress and level the items begin to look more fantastical, the kind of ub3r gear you want to see once you've actually progressed.. not at level 5 or whatever. Some could argue that fancier weapons early on keep people interested, but I think it actually deters from wanting to progress when you have an ultimate looking sword or hammer etc before you even reach a higher level or kill that super hard boss.

Finding rare weapons/armor is one of the things I find most fun about mmo's or rpg games in general. But I wanna work for them. Do puzzles or defeat hard enemies before my gear seems l33t (or at least looks like it is). I'm totally with you on this one.

I agree Murdoc! I made a debate about that a while ago too. When it comes to 'fancy' looking weapons and armor, I believe that lower levels can have some fancy weapons, but they'll still be noticably low level. For example, it won't be a golden flamberge sword with a winged hilt or whatever, it might just be a short sword with a jagged edge, a gem and some cool colors.

Thanks for your reply, in game graphics will be viewed at 200% so hopefully that will improve the gravel/paving tiles. Otherwise I may reduce the contrast slightly, and I'll create some more diversity for it so each tile isn't the complete same.

Gah, the best (but also most iterative) thing about this project is I keep learning so much that I continiously revise my assets and designs. At this rate I'll never finish Elandor Chronicles! Progress is good, but I'm looking into redoing a lot of weapons based on some new designs which ensures that every build possible has an equal number of pregenerated weapons for use.
