Hello everyone my name is WfatexrayW,

I am new to the forum, and have started using Eclipse for a small time right now.

And I wondered if anyone could give me any tips on my mapping on how to improve.

I don't know if I am at the right forum section here but I didn't think it would fit anywhere else (since it's not really a question) but if I am not in the right section I guess I Will hear it then.

Greetings, WfatexrayW

Edit: PS: I am using the regular Tiles of RPG XP because I find that you can see better how someone maps that way.

They are pretty nice ![:)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png) The only thing I can say is to try and make the cliffs less straight cut and more natural. Add random dips and ledges. Outs and ins, that sorta thing.

Alright I will work it out in the future maps I'll make, Thanks for the tip.

Make the maps less squared and rigid looking but not using straight lines and having everything lined up. It's got to look more natural. The cliffs are not straight lines they and curves, they're bumps and lumps and sharp bits and smooth bits. The same applies to lakes.

You might want to look and using more and more variety in your 'ground litter'.

Also, in the spawning area those bird's nests just look silly.

I would make your different heights more random, your edges are pretty straight right now and if you think of nature hills and mountains are rough and eroded instead of straight. Not so bad though definitely keep up the practicing ![:)](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png)

You have too many straight edges, in your cliffs and in your tall grass. Paint them on using the main tile, then go back and add borders. It will look way more natural. Next, terrace your cliffs. [Mr.mrsean's map](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/index.php?/topic/132373-long-time-no-map/) has a good example of terracing. Now look at your trees' placement. They're kind of just placed in an even screen over the map, right? This is bad. Trees grow where the most moisture is, and they usually don't grow alone. They grow in patches of many trees. Finally, get rid of the clouds in your encampment map and decrease the clutter all around. If you use tall grass and cliffs correctly, you won't need so many little plants.
