I had to reinstall my laptop and thought this would be a perfect time to make a guide. I have no libraries or files installed and will tell you how to install Eclipse 2.7 patch4 WITH PICTURES!!!

First I downloaded eclipse 2.7 patch 4\. I used the zip version since i dont have any unzipping utility and Im just using windows zip functionality.
http://freemmorpgmaker.com/2.7/Eclipse-Evolution-2.7.zip [ZIP]
http://freemmorpgmaker.com/2.7/Eclipse-Evolution-2.7-Source.rar [RAR]

Without having ELI installed I received this error
![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/eerror1.jpg)

So I went to the main page and downloaded the ELI program.
http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/ELI2RC3HF4.exe

just run it click next, next, finish.

OHHHH MAGIC!!!!!!!!! I got the server running!!!
![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/server.jpg)

Now before we do anything else lets make sure we can connect to ourselves….

With the server still running just open your client folder and start the client.

DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!!! ABORT!!!! ABORT!!!! ABORT!!!
In all honsety i was suprised to get these errors... i dont think Ive seen them before. EDIT: I found out this is caused by SP3 for XP
![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/inierror.jpg)![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/colorerror.jpg)
![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/rte339.jpg)

I tried EVERYTHING to get fix these errors, and NOTHING was working. Then I remembered the old library file installer that eclipse used to have. I installed that and every is all Hello Kitties again! (I like Hello Kitty… she will rule the world!)

Now we still need to make sure we can connect locally. After all that trouble trying to get the RTE 339 fixed I still could not see the server as online… Lets find out why shall we...  Open your config.ini in your client folder, and open your data.ini in your server folder. Lets compare...

![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/data.jpg)![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/config.jpg)

OMG my ports dont match… how did that happen
Oh well lets make them both 4000\. Also did you notice that in my config screenshot it says 127.0.0.1... well that is your LOCAL HOST IP. That is what you use to connect your client to the server if they are on the SAME machine. Do not give that IP to your friends… it wont work!

restart your server and client and lets see what happens.
Hey look in the bottom right corner of the screen... whats that word?.... EVERYONE SING ALONG!!!..... ONLINE!!!!!!!! ^_^
![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/online.jpg)
hmm its not really clear, but i assure you it says online!

Now create your account. Then login in and create your Character, and have fun making maps!!! Press F1 to get into the admin pannel to start editing your maps.

Ohh  I cant edit my maps!!!!
Well silly you need to give your self rights. Open the server window… you should have it in your taskbar at the bottom. Click on the Players tab in the server window, then click on your character and then click on give access.
![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/access.jpg)

might as well make your self owner of your server so give yourself level 5 permission.
Now you should be as happy as a clam!

THATS IT!!! You now have a working version of Eclipse!!! I hope you enjoyed my tutorial… I'll see ya around.

Whats that you want to know how to get your friends to connect...
sighs
Ok fine.. I guess I might as well let you in on that secret too!

First off if you are using a dial up connection, or dont even know if you have a router or not.. you probably should not be using eclipse. Dial up changes your IP EVERY time you connect to the internet, and its slow. If you dont know if you have a router then it will be very hard for us to explain things to you. You do not have enough computer knowledge. If you do have a router, but cant access it.. (stealing wifi… or just dont have permission) you will not be able to have other connect to your game unless you know the login password to the router. If you do not use a router, but have DSL or Cable, you can still use eclipse, and dont have to worry about the port forwarding information.

First we need to figure out some IP's.
Lets start with our LAN IP. This is your local network, and will only be relevent to you if you have a router.

Click on start -> Run and then type cmd. You should now get a black screen with some writing. At the prompt type ipconfig. This will display your LAN IP address. NOTE this is different than the LOCAL HOST IP we talked about earlier.
Write the number next to IP Address. .. . . . . . : down.
![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/cmd.jpg)

Now before you freak and say Why dont i have those X's there. Well I put those in so I dont get people saying "you idiot, you just gave out your ip" even tho it is the same for just about EVERYONE! dont worry about the subnet mask or gateway.

Next we need our WAN IP address. This is the IP you would give to your friends.
go to [IPCHICKEN.COM](http://www.ipchicken.com/) and write this big blue number down.
![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/ipchicken.jpg)

And no that is not my real IP so no "IDIOT you gave out your IP comments" :P

You now have your LAN IP and your WAN IP
We are in the home streatch!!!

Now for those of you with routers…
(if you are not sure if you have one or not... please just quit now)

You need to login to your router's webpage. Open your brower of choice and go to your routers page. This is typically your default gateway... remember when i told you not to worry about it... well i lied!

Typically it will be 192.168.1.1, or 192.168.0.1
this is the what my router looks like after i log in.
![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/router.jpg)

On the left i scrolled down to port forwarding / port triggering…. not all routers will look exactly like this but should have something similiar. You might need to click in different menus until you find the port forwarding section.

On my router after going to the port forwarding section, i click on add new service and I get this page.
![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/ports.jpg)

Put in the port you have in your data.ini, and config.ini, typically 4000\. If you can put in a range of ports you could put in 4001 (or any port number greater than 4000) incase someone is using the wrong port on their client, but its not needed to have a range.

In the Sever IP Address section I would put my LAN IP that we got from the black command window.

Click apply/save/ok and you should be good to go!!!

Now when you tell your friend to connect to your game you give them your WAN IP the one we got from IPCHICKEN. Also make sure they change the port number to whatever port you are using.

Click on this link to test port [4000](https://www.grc.com/x/portprobe=4000)
You can change the number at the end of the link to whatever port you are using. It should say status open.

have them open their config.ini file in the client folder, and change the 127.0.0.1 to your WAN IP
![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/gwendalinmaabus/Eclipse/config.jpg)

NOTE: unless you use something like Hamachi or NOIP, or unless you have a static IP… if you dont know if you have it or not.. you probably dont! You will have to give out your WAN IP every couple of weeks. IP address do change!!!

I dont use Hamachi or NOIP so you will have to look up a different tutorial for those.

That should be it…. K im getting kind of tired now... I dont think i forgot anything but its very possible... if you issues or questions, just post in this thread!

I dont know what it truly means… I dont mess with ports a lot, and this guide is what I did to get my server up and running. It also helped a few others with their ports.

If you are receiving Stealth I assume you have some sort of firewall enabled based on the descriptions below. Make sure you turn off windows firewall, or Nortron, or anyother firewall. Also check if you router has firewall, and turn it off there and then test it again.

But from their site I found this.
'Stealthed' ports are a, strictly speaking, a violation of proper TCP/IP rules of conduct. Proper conduct requires a closed port to respond with a message indicating that the open request was received, but has been denied. This lets the sending system know that its open request was received so that it doesn't need to keep retrying. But, of course, this "affirmative denial" also lets the sending system know that a system actually exists on the receiving end . . . which is what we want to avoid in the case of malicious hackers attempting to probe our systems.

I coined the term 'Stealth' when I developed this site's port probing technology to describe a closed port that chooses to remain completely hidden by sending nothing back to its attempted opener, preferring instead to appear not to exist at all.

Since 'Stealthing' is non-standard behavior for Internet systems, it is behavior which must be created and enforced by means of a firewall security system of some sort. The native TCP/IP interface software used by personal computers will ALWAYS reply that a port is closed. Therefore, some additional software or hardware, in the form of a 'stealth capable firewall' must be added to the computer system in order to squelch its "closed port" replies.

Here is another explination
A "Stealth" port is one that completely ignores and simply "drops" any incoming packets without telling the sender whether the port is "Open" or "Closed" for business. When all of your system's ports are stealth (and assuming that your personal firewall security system doesn't make the mistake of "counter-probing" the prober), your system will be completely opaque and invisible to the random scans which continually sweep through the Internet.

Even if this machine had previously been scanned and logged by a would-be intruder, a methodical return to this IP address will lead any attacker to believe that your machine is turned off, disconnected, or no longer exists. You couldn't ask for anything better. Your personal firewall or NAT router protected system is acting like a black hole for TCP/IP packets. That's very cool.

If your system did NOT show up as Stealth, but you would like it to, you will need to use one of the many free or inexpensive personal firewalls that are now widely available. Of the many firewalls on that list, we recommend (in alphabetical order) firewalls from Agnitum, Kerio, Norton, Sygate, Tiny, and ZoneLabs. I describe the operation of personal firewalls on this page.
