Nin Online Village (Tileset Showcase)

Hey everyone, just want to post an update on Nin Online's progress along with showcasing some of our village tiles.

Right now we only have generic buildings, no famous buildings from the series. That's what I have to do next!

The village will have multiple districts, which will look somewhat like this test map.

(Sorry if you spot any faults, I did this really quickly to test out the tiles)

It would add to the gameplay a lot, but it's just not feasible in the initial development time we are planning. We'll be releasing Nin Online whatever we have done in July, so it'll be mostly focused on a few basic features and enough content. From there'll we'll see if it's a feasible idea in the long term.

Thank you Skaaz :)

> Not really just add an animation (Player a bit up and shadown under him) finish hes jumping :-) set the range and an button to jump haha

It would be hard you would need an animation performed upon the click of the button + Imagine hes jumping and there is a wall in front of him ect…

It's not easy when you think more about it ...

Actually, the hardest part would be to do platforming.

You'd need the editor to be able to make tiles a certain Z height.

Jumping roof to roof, the engine must be able to calculate the distance jump-able by difference in height, distance in length and maybe jump strength.

Thanks Jake, I used the dither effect sparingly though, I didn't want the entire game and every piece of wood to look dirty and old!

Shucks Skaaz, that's nice to hear, but respect should go to Whack, he's been programming the game at a really fast pace :)

I would just make it be a flat distance of x. If you're on a roof and try to walk to a tile that's not a roof, check if there's a roof within x tiles of the roof you're on and, if so, jump. Not as cool, but way easier.

These tiles look fantastic. I particularly like the tree leaves and the wooden fence. You've got a knack for impressionism.

> Doesn't really matter if in the anime no one had green hair, I don't think players will have to choose their character based on Naruto's characters, they can create their own ninja, instead being Naruto, Sasuke, etc.

Of course I don't think players will choose their character that came from the series. That would be setting yourself up more for legal issues. But I get your point. Customization ^^

I remembered Fuu, one of the jinchuuriki's had cyan hair. Forgot :P
