yeah, with a more realistic goal for a laptop, then maybe it would work…
then there is the issue of trusting everyone to keep it going, not just getting a laptop then not supporting the others...

but yeah, if we were tight-knot enouigh to pull this off... it would rule...
cause everyone saving by themselves makes it seem impossible... but everyone sharing would be so quick... lol

well… the new dell inspiron with windows after tax/shipping is a little under 500... so...
if 25 people did 20 bucks each... thats one laptop...
likewise, 50 people at 10 bucks
or 17 people at 30 bucks...

mwahahaha... would go so fast... my theory...
just about anyone can afford the monthly payments... of like 10 a week rent to own or financed...
but any financing will increase the cost soo much... so everyone take a turn buying outright, but everyone pays full cost, no extra... lol

would have to have a rock solid list of who is in to start... and again, how trustworthy are they all?

the more people you have the less money you have to put in, but the longer you may have to wait…
i say 25 is a good number... at 20 a week...
I am serisously wondering if starting a site for this would work out...
like figure out the legalities of doing it all and holding pool members to it, so they dont quit.

Haha
unfortunately many of us dont have jobs
( grr im looking for a new job as i speak ( i quit ) )

it could potentially work if we all worked together.

but i dont get it…

lets say we have 10 people.

and were buying something that costs 10 bucks per person

soo if we all pitch 1 buck. 1 of us gets it. then if we al pitch 10 bucks. all of us get it.
isnt that the same principle as the laptop?
of course its in greater range of money but in the end if everyone is to end up with a laptop we must all pay the price... except in a long range of time

ok, what i was doing was looking at the dell inspiron mini 9… its just under 500 after shipping/tax(with memory and storage upgrades)

so the goal is 500 a person...

in the end:
each person has a 500 laptop
each person has paid 500 bucks

now the motives for doing it this way:
you may get it early, and not have to wait to save up 500 then order.
You dont have to pay the financing charges and whatnot, keeping it at 500, not like 2500 after interest and all that.

so the more people you have, the less you have to pay a week to get one person a laptop, but... the longer it will take for everyone to get one...
now if 10 people did 100 a week...
they would get 2 laptops a week, so 5 weeks they all have one...

clear up anything?

So basically, its for people who want the laptop, but don't have the money right now.
I guess it could work, although if you get a job at say 10$/h, 20h/week after 3 weeks you get the money. its probably faster that way :)

I'm actually looking into getting a job at a ski resort near my place. I've quit my summer job, good pay, but crazy hard (Cashier, 10.90$ cad/h , not worth it) Not for a laptop tho, I want a car :)
