Hippoman789 Posted October 7, 2008 Author Posted October 7, 2008 i cant seem to find any other color but everything is backed with black…if i try to place something (like a tree for example) it comes out like a tree part with a black backround not matching at all. What should i do.
Bobbus Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Make a ground layer of grass or whatever the region you're mapping needs to look like.
Bobbus Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Map editor, click on the bubble that says "Ground". Then highlight the tile and click on the map to stick it in.
Anna Comnena Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Ok. The black means invisible. All the maps start all black, because that is the first color of the first tileset in the game - blank.Your problem with the trees comes up, because you are placing the tree down using the **Ground** layer. To place trees correctly you need to first place them using a **Mask** layer, and then place the bushy parts of the tree with **Fringe** layer.Ground Layer: as its name goes, the ground; lowest tiles; need to be a solid tileMask Layers: is placed above the Ground layer, but still below or "under" sprites (players, NPCs, items)Fringe Layers: are above everything, these even display above sprites. for trees, roofs, etc.

Because if i wanted to make a lake or something i dont want people walking on water…
ceriux Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 all solids are made by attributes, using the "block" attribute will make it to where you cant walk past/on/under something.
Anna Comnena Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Yeah LAYERS do not define where you can walk. You can walk anywhere in the map if you have no ATTRIBUTES.Here read this tutorial it explains all the features in the map editor:http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,13225.0.html
