**Installing ELI on Windows XP and prior**

**Introduction.**

Hello, I'm Stephan J.R. van Schaik, also known as Godlord, Goddie, etc. In this tutorial I will show you how to install the Eclipse Library Installer or ELI correctly on Windows XP and prior, if you're using Windows Vista or later then please refer to [this tutorial](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,50015.0.html).

If you don't know what operating system you're currently running then use [this tool](http://todo).

**A note before installing ELI.**

This tutorial has screenshots included but these may differ depending on your theme, version and settings.

**Acquiring ELI.**

You first need to download ELI which is described in [this topic](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,50052.0.html).

**Compatibility mode (Only required for 64-bit).**

Right-click 'Eclipse Library Installer.exe' and a pop-up menu should appear:

Just click on 'Run', if such a window appears.

Now a dialog like this should appear:
![](http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p225/Godlord40/elixp4.png)

Just click on 'Next' and it will install, like shown in the picture below:
![](http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p225/Godlord40/elixp5.png)

When it is done, click on 'Next'.
![](http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p225/Godlord40/elixp6.png)

Now you can just click on 'Finish'.

This is for older versions of Eclipse. For instruction on how to install the current version (at the time of writing, Eclipse Origins), [read this tutorial.](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,68360.msg736593.html#msg736593)
