I know the difference. I was just stating that they were in the same family, both use reeds, have a (usually black) wooden exterior, and require air to make sounds. The fingering for both is nearly the same too. The only real difference is the dual reed for the oboe and the single reed for the clarinet. The oboe also requires a cup (usually) to soak the reeds when not in use.
