**Last post in 2012?! What?!**

I started working on a game that I currently call 'Dragon' but I've been sooo busy that I've haven't really had any time to sit down and do some programming on it. Just looking through my folders today and I saw this and I decided to start up the game and check out this thread. Wow, the smile on my face is massive :P

Not sure if I posted these screenshots before or not and I'm not sure what I'm actually doing right now too busy with real life *sigh* But I just wanted to post these:

Just doing some thinking. Taking some old ideas and mixing them with new ones. Feedback would be great.

>! **Treatment**
>!
>! A Pokemon game with an open, interesting and interactive world that will allow for new gameplay mechanics and provide the player with a fresh but familiar experience.
>!
>! The world will feature multiple regions, all of which will have been expanded to provide the player with new and interesting content.
>! The world will be far more interactive than the standard games and will be brought to life with features such as the player being able to see Pokemon roam the wild. Some Pokemon like Abra will flee immediately after seeing the player whilst Pokemon like Rhydon may charge the player.
>! With a player's Pokemon being able to follow behind a player, the standard battle screen will be done away with and instead a battle will take place in the environment itself. This will make watching a battle far more exciting than the standard battle screen and will add a new layer of strategy to battling with a player's Pokemon being able to take advantage of the terrain.
>! Aside from the new battle system brought a long with an interactive environment, the ability to just watch a Pidgey sitting on top of a roof and then taking off will just add a new depth to the world, a depth that hasn't been seen before.
>! Another thing that will be done away with, will be Hidden Machines. Instead of a HM taking up a valuable move slot, a Pokemon will be able to use its natural abilities to affect the environment. For example, inside of a pitch black cave, an Electric type Pokemon could be used to provide light so the player can see. Such abilities will first have to be trained before use.
>! The above mechanics a long with others should provide the player with a Pokemon game experience like no other.

This sounds epic. If you finish, sign me up for Alpha!

> I hope to see you actually get somewhere with this project, this time around :P.

I got pretty far last time round. A full blown turn-based battle system plus many of the other Pokemon systems. It was just the lack of content plus how much content I had to create plus spending a few years on it basically sucked me dry and that led to its downfall :P

The ideas I have now seem more fresh and appealing after all that :)

PCR back in development. Will be basing the new version of the treatment I posted awhile ago:

I status I posted awhile ago:

"The evolution of Pallet Town. Yes I can't map and since I'm tired I just rushed the Oak's Lab side of the map but that's the look I'm going for."

There is much more but I'm kinda tired right now and just wanted to get this post in. Stay tuned.

It's not really an evolution, there's just an extra bench, an extra southern bit of area and an elevated lab.

Now, THESE are definitely worthy of being called evolutions of Pallet Town:

Much more town-like; pretty much all of the towns and cities in Pokémon games are underpopulated and frankly, are uninspiring. In my opinion, the towns/cities that the games have done right include Goldenrod City, Mossdeep City, Eterna City, Sandgem Town, Castelia City, Aspertia City, Lentimas Town, and Coumarine City.

Please don't do anything like the Kanto towns/cities (they're all fairly small, but that's largely down to the limitations at the time of their creation), and the joke that is Kalos Route 1.

I had similar designs down and was planning on doing something like those examples except for the fact that those examples have a lot of empty, if you will wasted, space and that wasn't something I wanted to do. Plus if I scale up Pallet Town like that then what would I have to do to Viridian City? It is also a lot easier for a player to walk a little bit to the side to get to the lab rather than having to walk along these winding trails just to get to the lab. I want the maps to be similar but just a tad different and I didn't want to mess too much with the compact size of Pallet Town.

Evolution, playing off of the Pokemon evolution feature :P And anyways, the region of Kanto will be bigger than what you have seen in the games before. There will be brand new areas to explore and have fun but for the parts of Kanto we all know, I think this is a step forward in trying to give players similar but just a tad different :D
