Uhm yea me and a few select members of this forum are working on a certain game of sorts. Figured I would show it off and what not. The games untitled currently(note don't mind the title in the gui, its a place holder until we actually decide on one) and is getting drawn and digitally manipulated via cs5 by me and coded by the old time forum lurker himself Unnown.

GUI is dissapointing.  I can't tell if it's parchment or if it's sandstone :/
tiles look pretty nice, except your tree trunks are lacking a bit of depth.  Also your tree stumps could use a little bit of revamping, you can't really tell the flat part is flat.  I would recommend lightening it.

Okay, first of all, crate does not look the same in the login screen as in game.
Barrel looks squarish.
Unsure of where your lightsource is as your trees seem to get light from the right while your barrel gets light from the left.
Dirt got a visible pattern.
Your character got a black outline while the rest of your graphics don't, and it does not fit in.
Your plant or whatever is 3 random leaves sticking up from the grass..
Perspective not the same on your barrel and crate as on your stumps.
Some things seem to have a lightsource, some don't.
No visible shading on skin and got too much of a yellow hue if he's supposed to be white.

Good enough?

Thanks bro ;) real helpfull. What a great community. Anyway, noone said i was going for realism…its a cartoon rpg. What do you you base your crit off of?

Wait my fault... Your with the pixel police, I understand buddy.

Totally. I'm with the pixel police. Just because it's a cartoon game it doesn't mean you shouldn't base your work on anything. And I can't say that having a set light source counts as "realism" >.>
What I base my crit of is experience with making graphics for games, not just for people downloading eclipse and they call it a game.
Oh, and u mad bro? :D You asked for feedback and critique and I gave it and yet you seem angry about it as there was so much that I found that could be improved.

Wow your on a different planet buddy, Im not mad, but i also never once mention wanting crit or feed back. It seems like your just making shit up to justify your antics. A light source is realism when a cartoon looking game with NO sun is the topic of our tongues. I pixel the way I want, i get it to look how I want then im done and move on. I dont sit around editing every flaw every person points out. Because that would take ages. And I bet someone else could come up with a whole different list of flaws in my graphics because its all a matter of opinion. Taking the time to harvest such list is what separates your from the rest though. Good day sir.

You post a topic with your work and you don't expect people to tell you what they think? Then why bother posting it at all?..
And for a cartoon game with no sun it is strange that some things do look like you have a sun then.

You also said "tons of awesome feedback i see." which makes me assume you want me to specify why I only thought the grass was good and the rest was not.
And sure, you can pixel the way you want, but if you want to improve and make a game some people might want to play, then you could always take the advice given to you.
Good day to you sir.

Lukin, You're opinion is a opinion, nothing more. To me I like his pixel art (except for the actual sprite itself) every other thing I like. It gives it a kiddy feel to it. Hell I'd play the game when it comes out.

Also its my opinion and nothing more… You can't tell a pixel artist what you want his ART to look like. Try telling someone like Picasso to do his work how you want, hed tell you to go fuck yourself. An Artists style is his own and he can IMPROVE that style but he isn't going to change it, most of the time.

@Lukin, you shouldnt post that much criticism whether he asks for it or not. your being rough on the guy.
try the sandwhich trick. you sandwhich a negative feedback between 2 good feedbacks (lol thats my teachers approach to things and i find it funny :P) try it next time and maybe itll be taken better by the person your speaking to, i dunno.

@Nikko, Lukin has a point here: you are posting this in the 'Show Off' section of the forums. If your gonna show off stuff, you have to expect criticism, even when its tough.

but hey, when Rebecca black released her song, she took the hardest criticism of all time and now shes laughing all the way to the bank with her millions she made from the song sold on iTunes. So its not cause a Lukin guy is posting criticism that ur game isnt gonna be the best Eclipse game ever made. so if u cant take it, ignore it and move on.

Personally, i think its great to see custom gfx that actually looks decent! i'm supporting the project all the way. keep up the good work!

Im not taking this the wrong way at all. Im not offended or hurt Im just confused at the way this dude is approaching his posting. Their was never any rules or guidelines to the way things HAVE to be done for pixeling. That goes for anything at all, so him telling me aspects of my art are WRONG is just crazy in my mind. He just came in here acting like a jew right away and that's stupid. Posting a list of like 7-8 "faults" in a row and ending his post with "Good enough?" without being provoked is not helpful its just immature. Plus through out this he pretty much derailed my topic.

I mean who cares if my crate in game doesn't look the same as on the gui… seriously... Gimmie a break here, I mean come on

ive been around way too long to let a post on a forum (especially this one) make me cry. Also especially when the person bashing my art creates beautiful imagery such as this:

But you have bothered searching for his work and that is making it personal between the two of you. So it is affecting you. After your done reading this post, you should either, lock it, or start ignoring him fully. Its rly not worth it.

Im hoping for more pictures btw :)

I have not made that and I have never seen it either.
More like this: (Keep in mind most of this is old) ![](http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo216/LukinT1/Contestthingy-1.png)

And the reason why I said "good enough?" was because you said "tons of awesome feedback i see." when I said I only thought the grass looked good.

I don't see what Bloodmorphed did to "trash" his work. Anyway, I guess you could continue with your style with stuff like random lightsources, but I'm just saying that people might take notice while playing the game and they might think it's strange.

a quick trick to do on the tiles that have a light source coming from the top left: flip it horizontally.  It's simple and effective.  While I didn't care earlier, now I can't unsee it and it's annoying.  I'm hoping to see some updates soon though.
