**About**
So yes, I'm looking to bring someone on to the Crystalshire development team. This isn't just a one-way relationship though. You'll gain a lot by joining such a fantastic game as long as you're willing to put in the work.

Currently all engine development, item development, npc development, spell development etc. is done by yours truly. Anna does bits and pieces but her main commitment is mapping. Emily also gives opinions but doesn't really do much.

My free time is a sparse commodity now-a-days so I need someone to take up the reins of the ingame content so I can concentrate on building up the game engine.

**The job**
You'll basically be taking over balancing the core game content. This is the combat grind. You don't need to do any programming. Anything you want added to the game engine can be done. I don't think I need to point out that working with me is not like working with other people. There are no restrictions or excuses when it comes to adding things to the game engine. Anything which you need done to make your plans work I can do. It's as simple as that.

I need someone who's got a decent command of maths as well as the ability to explain their ideas in plain English. I do have dyscalculia so it's very possible that I won't be able to fully get my head around the more complex calculations and formulae. You do need to understand the way VB6 handles calculations (Difference between / and \ for example) and you will need to be able to write out your formulae in a way which the engine will be able to understand.

Of course a large part of your job will also be adding NPCs and items. This will be something you handle with the rest of the development team as well. Although we're more than happy to have you come up with ideas on what we can have as enemies we need you to concentrate on balancing out their statistics and data.

As well as this you'll be handling the levelling system. This means making sure that there is noticeable improvement as you build your character (through spell levelling, new equipment and attribute scaling) but also a suitable challenge from trash and bosses.

You'll also need to actually like the game. If you're working on these changes then you'll have to play through your own game content to make sure it works. I think I've maxed out each class over 5 times at least simply to make sure it all works. Obviously the better job you do the less testing you need to do.

Oh, and you'll also want to be open to doing various different things. We all have a field we concentrate on but we all do a bit of everything.

**How can I apply?**
If you don't match any of those points then feel free to hit me up. You do not have to build your game design around the existing one. I have the skills needed to re-design the game systems without losing the actual data.

I will need you to have a plan of action and I will need you to talk me through everything via IM. This conversation will also be a way of me seeing if you're the kind of person I want to work with.

If I'm impressed by you and your ideas then I'll set you up as a 'Contributor' on the game and forum. This will give you some social standing and show that you're currently contributing towards the project. At first all changes will be done through an intermediary (Either me or someone else).

Once we've tested your game ideas in the game itself and once I feel I can trust you with administrative access to the game database then you'll become a full-time administrator and developer. How fast this happens depends entirely on how well I know you.

**Finishing notes**
Don't take this all too seriously. If you've never talked to me outside of this forum then you won't know what kind of person I really am. How I act around friends is completely different from how I act around a place where it's my job to enforce rules and answer questions.

We have fun making Crystalshire and we're always having a laugh. If you don't have a good sense of humour then you're really not going to gel with the team. Don't worry about it though. If you're right for the position then it'll be obvious from the start.

To be honest I don't care about people enough to develop an opinion of them. The only people I simply don't like are those idiots who are the vocal minority.

Was thinking the exact same thing :P

Quick tip: Ask the person if they've ever played your game. I'd only hire someone who knows the game already and who knows what kind of gameplay and game content your going for. Could be a requirement or just a bonus for whomever has that experience.

i'd like to help come up with ideas if you want although i'm sure there is someone more qualified for the job… i'd just do what i'm doing for R.O.T.H write some adventures and then draw out some map plans and possible characters and play the whole adventure in my head to see how it sounds. That's what i do for developement anyway works really well and i love to see it come to life.  Well hope you guys find someone so crystalshire can start getting something going :)

and for spells i always just keep messing around with them intell i find that it works really good it some takes some time but it makes a diffrence in a good mmorpg. :)

P.S i have played crystalshire when ever i can...

so all you do is ballance the game with math hehe well have fun with that job does'nt sound fun at all… I do it for my game but i just repeat test things intell i feel it's good for the specific area/level of where the monsters/spells will be at and what level the players should be.

Here i thought it was a cool job where you get to use imagination :( o well good luck with getting a well qualified person for the job. :)

All developers work on all aspects of the game. I need someone to handle balancing so that'll be their main commitment.

You're obviously not right for the job, however. I think I'll hire someone who actually read the job description before applying.

I turned Lord of Empire from an unbalanced shit hole to an actually enjoyable game. I'm quite certain you have nothing against me and if you'd like my help, I'd love to. I'm pretty good when it comes to balancing (you can try out my own game if you'd like some backing up for that.) But considering I haven't showed off much around here I won't be surprised if you decline me for someone better ;].

To be honest as soon as i say CS needed help i just offered mine but your right i'm surely not qualified for the job good luck though i'll stop posting since i'm just annoying you.

After literally reading this topic over and over I finally decided to take some time a take a shot at the position. Firstly, as for math formulas, I wouldn't say I'm strong around that area but i can explain my ideas in plain english. Though I also learn as much as I can every day and night.

You made this sound quiet simple, I can most certainly be of help with this. Though, if I do manage to get accepted I will ask a few questions just to be sure of a few things. I also want to learn more about you as well as the people you work with. I read many of your replies to a lot of topics, and I am interested in seeing how different you are with people you know. ( atleast if I get accepted I'll learn more )

I have no clue as to if you like me or not. Though if you don't, it's most likely because you don't know me well, just as I don't know you.

I am sure I don't have a bad reputation, as I only reply to topic if I know what I'm saying or talking about.

Yes. Though my grammar is not the best, I can speak English.

With summer just around the corner, the meaning of "bedtime" will most likely be different for me. I honestly don't sleep much, as I have trouble staying asleep. I can devote a lot of my time, though I have other things to do as well.

I have a nice sense of humor. A team with out any sense of humor mind as well be dead. Just my opinion.

Hey, so I sent you a PM, but I guess you don't see them all, so I'm copy pasting.

Hey Robin. I saw your topic of looking for a Developer. I am… interested.
I'm not sure if you like me or not... I've asked stupid questions before and you thought I could answer them myself, I may have argued with you on those, but I'm not sure if you like me... I like the way you are, though.

I've talked with you in Crystalshire too, I don't think I've been in your blacklist of somewhere... really. I haven't had any warning before, only 1, which was because I spammed, not sure how many % I got, but I remember you were the one who warned me.

I don't have a bedtime, I do have school, but really, I sleep whenever I feel like it. I understand Math a lot, I've made some stuffs in the modCombat module in the server, and I have fully made any calculations there to work. I understand the way VB handles it.

My main language is Spanish, but I've been studying English for 2 or 3 years now, and I guess I speak it very fluently. I'm also very familiar with the EO engine, though I do understand that the CS engine is very different, and as you stated, that the Maths must be made the way the engine understand them.

I have maxed all my 3 classes, I also log in daily for a bit of playing, even though I am maxed at everything.

I am also nice at mapping with RMVX tiles, I've made a RMVX game before, and I got good at them.

About playing the game... I have played it all, I have defeated every boss with my friends, and have been in Crystalshire since it first day, previously Wind's Nocturne. I know the game, I'm sure I've been in every map that is available, and I'm sure I do really know all of the game world.

So, that's all.
I hope to get accepted furthermore, but in any case I don't, it won't really matter much.
