wow050
Whats the limit on the size of a map?
Lenton
The map size is unlimited. When in the map editor click the "Properties" button and you can change the map size (X and Y).I recommend you don't make a map too big otherwise the game may lag. Medleyy
That'll probably still lag. Maps about the size of Crystalshire are generally good.

Guest
You can't make them over 255 x 255\. If you try to make them over that it just resizes back to 255.
Rithy58
I guess I was right. It was probably just a data-type limitation. Easily raise but why would anyone want a map bigger than 255 x 255?Sincerely,Rithy
Medleyy
Much the secondary point of this thread. 30x30 to 50x50 is a good size. Having one gigantic map would take forever to load and cause years of lag.

Geek
The biggest map I've needed so far is 30x30\. I mean, I can fit a whole town + rivers/paths + Sea-side dock + walls + Exit gate on one 30x30.If you need more than that, let me know when your Tajma Hall is done so I can come admire it. Lenton
If I was to make a game I would make each map 16 x 16 and then edit the engine to join the maps up so it gives the illusion of one big map. Someone really needs to do this, it would be so much better than lots of separate maps.
Robin
The larger the map the longer the initial download and the longer people spend switching maps. You'll also be sending some huge packets which everyone can agree is a bad thing. It'll also eat up more memory and possibly slow down depending on the systems in place.255x255 is the limit due to memory issues. Personally I didn't exceed 50x50 in Crystalshire although the maps Anna made might do so.
