Now that i'm not worried quite as much about paperdolling stuff, I went with a slightly more lively pose for my sprite, it seems off in some areas to me.

any advice or edits are welcome

here's the old one:

P.s. Ignore the 10 second weapon he's holding, that's just to show that it's meant to hold 2 handed weapons.

That's pro stuff man well done!
Hmm I think over all his arms and legs could stand to be beefed up a bit to match the rest of the figure. Like rounder more cut shapes.
I think his pose is almost exaclty like the style you were going for. Only real difference I notice is that (his) right arm is tucked in close to his side, bring that elbo out some for a more natural looking stance.
Anyway that's really cool though, it looks as pro as any of the eclipse starter sprites I've seen. Alright later…

That's a defensive position Ghost, he looks like he's ready to block an attack, not attack himself.
The legs are just hilarious, I remember that you were going for a certain style with them, but this is over the top, they just need to have more flesh.

Another thing, why is he looking at me? I don't think that makes sense in a top down game lul.

Alright, I buffed up his shoulders a bit more and put his right shoulder a bit more into perspective. Moved the elbow out slightly as well. Fixed his right pec a bit too.

Kusy, the games not completely top down? But I moved his eyes down a bit and put a highlight on his head to try and show that he's not looking completely straight at you, idk if that fixes it for you or not. The legs may be a losing battle for you haha cus they look just how I want them. I may beef em up a bit but right now I like it.

One thing I don't like about the new one is that because of that pose the perspective is flatter; yet the legs are still tiny, so it seems more of a stylistic choice. The old sprites had some of that same stylistic design (oversized bulky bodies with tiny legs), but the forced perspective of the old sprites made that style work better in my opinion.

Tried touching up a few more places, and moving the legs around a bit to look less awkward. Worked on an idle animation. In turn bulked the legs up a bit more as well

Sorry to say but I'm not gonna go back to the old sprite.

Again, ignore his weapon, not my work at all.

I preferred the old sprite as well. (: The edit looks improved. Not too bad I say, although some of the colors/details and the chest animation come across a little harsh. What are the dark lines on his shoulder?

I feel like the muscle structures give a good representation of the motion, but I threw some drawers on there for you Robin haha.

Reworked the shoulder muscles some and messed around with the walking frames, also tried out a quick idle animation

EDIT -
fixed the walk animation, the frames were mispositioned when i created the gif.

I think they are actually quite great, i love the muscle details, it give's the "game" a sense of brutality. In the one's you just posted, I like the first frame, where he is standing still,  it makes it look like he's breathing, haha. Keep up the good work.
