In case they don't, you ought to pronounce each letter individually. Therefore G.U.I. should be pronounced gee - you - aye rather than gooey (since the English language doesn't know the proper sound for the ui-digraph, as in languages where that digraph is known, the sound used in "gooey" is totally off).

I hate it when people pronounce SQL as "sequel", it stands for Structured Query Language so its not like there is an e after the S.

Saying "HUD" is fine because it makes sense. If you saw a word spelled 'hud' you would pronounce it like that. For SQL, you just have to say the letters because there's no other way. For GUI, you also have to say the letters because what kind of sound does UI make?
