How about mini-conventions. Smallers ones, but more of them. Like 1 in north America, South America, Canada, England etc. So people from that country can come, Insted of paying and going abroad :S

I'd say 7/10, it's good but the background draws peoples eye away from the text. You should also follow Skell's advice and make the font more visible. :)
