  1. I don't know enough about it BUT I do suggest that if you all were ever to switch you do ample research. Even if it is slightly harder to work with, if Xenforo is any better than IPB it might be worth the effort to learn the system. It's all about dedication and this community is worth it. Plus, switching is hard enough already. Why not get it right this time so we don't do it again?
  2. The FreeMmorpgMaker.com domain only ever pointed to the black site back when you owned the site Marsh. Once Robin released EO2 it was simply a redirect to TouchOfDeathForums.com It was Daniel's decision to relocate the site to EclipseOrigins.com (he found the name more appropriate, which I agreed and disagreed with at the same time – still do) but when that happened, TouchOfDeathForums.com and FreeMmorpgMaker.com where still pointing to this forum. When Nick/Lycros took over hosting, they mapped touchofdeathforums.com and eclipseorigins.com but never freemmorpgmaker.com, so any links to that on the web are marked as dead by google. Furthermore the site and forum change was done poorly leaving any links on this site to existing topics useless as well. (No redirect rules were made to map ipb links to working mybb ones) While I don't expect the admin team to fix all broken links, it is still in their best interest to get FreeMmorpgMaker.com to point here instead of nowhere. Update: @Seth, I agree if one dedicated team member will moderate and run it then they can act as a liaison to the other team members. With that said, it still falls on everyone to do their part to get stuff done. I must reiterate that even if Cici made all the decisions, she simply does not have access to everything on the site.
  3. I've hi-jacked Cici's web development thread too much. I would like to suggest a section on this site where the community as a whole can post suggestions and ideas to the administration team that are guaranteed to be read and responded to (even if the response is unfavorable). As of now, it is up to the admins to determine the direction the site is headed and make it happen. We are grateful, but there are are 45 thousand members out here and our thoughts and ideas are rarely asked for and when we suggest ideas or report problems they are often lost in time. (For example, I asked Link to get someone to fix latest activity multiple times. Then Cici joined the team and she never heard of the issue. Link probably just forgot, and that's fine but having a place to keep track of suggestions and concerns would have fixed the problem significantly sooner.) That is only one example though. I can always voice my opinion but it often seems to be disregarded or forgotten and it is hard to get it to the correct people. The admins have Slack to communicate and plan but that doesn't help any of us. My idea is one board where I can make a post to mention several of my ideas. (Such as: Accepting donations and once X amount is reached the Google Ads are disabled; Mapping http://freemmorpgmaker.com to this site to its value stops depreciating, etc) then my post can be read by the correct person, and they can respond accordingly. If they need help, we can then offer it. If our suggestion or concern isn't valid then at least we know we were heard and it can be revisited later on. The problem is that this will only work if the whole administration team is willing to work with it. It is a lot of work on them too, I understand. But I really think it could make this a much better place. Thoughts? * * * Update: Cici agreed and implemented the idea, when I modified my original post her post was lost somehow. Anyways I immediately have some concerns. I think that it shouldn't happen until discussed and agreed upon by everyone on the admin team. There are components that you cannot do alone, Cici, although I wish you could. At the very least, Nick and Link must be on board to approve decisions you may not be comfortable with or you may not have access to grant like my domain suggestion. In my mind I would love to see posts titled like these: [Suggestion] [Map FreeMmorpgMaker.com [Bug][Yuko] Latest Activity Randomly Disappears [Suggestion][All] Community Donations to hide Non-Eclipse Ads etc. each admin would reply to their addressed topics or topics marked for all of them. Further thoughts? Oh, and the new section you created does not allow for us to make topics :P](Map FreeMmorpgMaker.com [Bug][Yuko] Latest Activity Randomly Disappears [Suggestion][All] Community Donations to hide Non-Eclipse Ads etc. each admin would reply to their addressed topics or topics marked for all of them. 4. As far as advertising goes that is worthless. You will want to use Google Analytics or some other system to keep track of unique visitors, home page daily hits, etc
  5. Sorry bud. If you luck out, you might find a rising programmer to do the job in order to learn on the fly or just someone with a ton of free time. Otherwise, that is still super far below minimum wage for the time it would take to complete and convincing someone who has a higher paying programming gig or someone who simply doesn't need the money is hard to do. You might be better off taking money off the table and befriending a programmer or just bartering. -JC
  6. Check your PM whitespirits. I think that image will help with the decision making process XD

    Menu UI

Looks like the child of Rpg Maker and Pokemons menu.

    Patience

I'd like to point out that we are 1 week away from the 2 MONTH mark and the site still has a ton of rudimentary problems with nothing even close to a status update. *Granted I doubt anyone will see this since the Latest Activity only appears 1/20 times of refreshing the forum index."
  9. Please note that using Dungeon Master's solution, I think you need the first page to have a condition of Self Switch A being Off.

    Source error

Uninstall IE11 - That could fix it. Another possible solution includes modifying version numbers in the .vbp project, you can probably find it by searching on this site.
  11. Shoutbox is stuck in Amber. ![](http://www.nerdlikeyou.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/fringe-william-bell-in-amber.jpg) Respect to anyone who recognizes Leonard Nimoy and the Fringe reference. RIP 2015
  12. He either settled for Orion/Another .Net engine. Or he gave in and pirated VB6.
  13. Nope, sorry for the bad news.
  14. So less than 20 hours later the plans are deviating, this new chapter is going to be interesting. Shoutout and best of luck to Lycrios with the Java engine. RIP .Net 2015
  15. You answered part 1 of my question but completely missed or neglected part 2. You claim you have 2 modern language engines ready to be developed or already in the process. (Java/.Net). My question is, is that a plan or do you actually have people signed on to develop those and if so, who are they? Followup question, you said: > set a stable foundation in anticipation of Greenlighting the new engine via Steam Which engine? (Java or .Net)
  16. What about EW? Is Seth still going to develop it for the community or is he being sidelined? Is there any particular reason why the new developers where not introduced in this thread? I feel like since names were excluded nothing has really been committed to.
  17. I wouldn't worry about that too much. It can take up to 24 hours for domains to move over. Once it does, it should remain to be www.eclipseorigins.com. (Unless it actually is shameless advertising lol)
  18. Technically yes but, the amount of code that it would require in order to pull it off isn't worth it in 99% of cases.
  19. One does not simply download A.I.D.S. If you are here, you already have it.

    Member of the Month

I vote that Agoraphobic gets a month suspension from his adminship due to never using his paid holiday breaks.
  21. Really depends on the system. Some systems do allow you to sanction off your RAM for exclusive graphic processing. Go into your bios, you might be able to change how much it allotted. Check this thread out. [https://communities.intel.com/message/126145#126145](https://communities.intel.com/message/126145#126145)
  22. This defeats the whole purpose of RAM, if the hard drive could efficiently act as ram we would use hard drives and all have terabytes of ram. The hard drive is slow, even if you have a top of the line solid state disk it would still be 10 to 20 times slower than normal ram. This means that if you crossed your actual ram limit you would bring your computer to a halt waiting on your hard disk to cycle where as accessing normal RAM takes nanoseconds. TLDR: This is cool technology, helped when RAM was really expensive but in this day in age, just get yourself an extra 2GB stick if you really need it.
  23. I never fail to be reminded that I have no skill when it comes to mapping…... Games look great, keep it up. I think you should open up the game, even if it isn't perfect having players online will encourage you to keep adding to it :D
