  1. Apart from pine trees growing next to palm trees, I pretty much like it. Then again - vegetation seems awfully big compared to the character sprites. They're out of scale, I would make them smaller and keep the character sprites - they are the strong point of the whole thing.

    Sword Base

It's an outline, looks fine, color it and we'll see what happens.

Oh, what are you whispering mr. puppet? What should I do? I should ducking google "RAVEN TRIBAL", take a picture from the first 20 results, slap some text on it and call it a day? ON IT BOSS! Two pages of chat on something that wasn't even made by the op. I admire. Miss those days when threads that used external resources as your own without saying so were locked? I was about to say "I bet", but betting that the first tribal was also taken from some random website might be tricky - it might be too generic to backtrack.
  5. Nope. You don't even begin to describe it Nook. Anatomy is nonexistent here, she doesn't even hips bro.
  6. Well, was it designed to use basic paint colors that don't work with each other instead of spending a minute on picking something easier on the eye with less saturation and button backgrounds that would make it easier to read the white font? Because it sure does look like it was. From a 100% design perspective, as I have nothing to do with programming anything outside of Action Script - I wouldn't download your application even if I needed one of those, because the demo you showed looks bad… and it would honestly take a minute to pick colors that don't seem to be interested in sexually assaulting my eye sockets. I would find another similar application (and I'm sure I would have a decent number to browse from) that would look more attractive. Proceed to feel bad about it. Or don't. That is entirely up to you. And on this optimistic note - I would like to return from my month-long, someone's period induced exile. I love you Marsh. Don't let them tell you I don't.
  7. It was helpful. You just ignored it. 1\. MY BACK HURTS SO DUCKING MUCH aka learn basic anatomy, what a human body can and can not do. Because it can't bend like that unless it's a dead body. 2\. AND THIS DUCKING PICKLES WON'T OPEN aka man, look at that… lantern? Don't even wrestle with human anatomy before learning how to draw a cube in perspective. Really. 3\. ALSO MY HAND IS RETARDED... aka go back to point one and two. What you attempted is called a perspective shortcut... and since you can't properly draw a cube in perspective, attempting to do so with a human hand might prove problematic. Since he's holding a lantern it would make sense for it to be the source of light, in the meantime your light comes somewhere from the right. Draw more, draw more basic stuff, learn perspective, try drawing a human body from a model, and if you can't get a model use a picture (not drawing on a picture - from a picture). Another thing - if you're drawing an armored guy, do that. Draw an armored guy, not a member of the ducking putty patrol. Adding details later is the worst thing you can do, you should have the idea of what you are doing from the very start, I'm not saying that you should start from drawing every plate, but even your basic outline should suggest what you're doing. Hope you find THIS helpful, because nothing on the internet is necessary. @DMF stop posting you're a fag. Also my eyes bleed every time you try to write in English. I saw half-blind people mash keyboards with higher accuracy rate than you. c===3

  9. Why not model the pawns? It's like the easiest thing to model.

    Font opinion

None. You don't add blur to in game text; you don't use ugly fonts for in game text; you don't use all caps for in game text. Start over.
  14. It's incredibly easy and pretty short. Still - one of the funniest games I played to date. It's around 6 years since I last heard about it I think…
  15. It's nice to see you alive and kickin' Ambard.
  16. 12 fps, bad collisions. Not web-worthy.
  17. > There's no comparison between hammering two planks together and mapping. The planks are going to look the same, and have the same appeal and use almost no matter what (unless its a ducking wreck). So when it comes to mapping, and showing off mapping, we can comment and critique on a handful of things. The tileset, the detail, practicality in game, and most importantly the appeal, whether it looks good or not. The comparison was about general knowledge of how to use tools and putting them to good use. He knows how to use the map editor. Great. Now I'd like to see him use that knowledge to make an actual map that has a functionality. A map without functionality, or as we discussed - level design, is just an image, a bitmap. And if I'm going to judge it as such, I will judge it solely based on the fact that he used tiles that are so overused it hurts. Of course you could counter this by saying that filler maps have to exist, and that would be true. But then it would be just stupid to choose the most bland and uninteresting part of your game's world and show it to people. And if you give me something like that out of context, don't expect me to fill in the blanks and imagine how great the map just behind the corner might be. You guys are talking about tile movement working against this map. I'm talking about the exact same thing - this map was not designed to work, it was made to look pretty, to showoff knowledge of how to use the map editor. It's a collage of tiles. If things he's showing here (correct use of fringe, sufficient level of detail, variety) were applied to actual design - it might be good. @Greendude. I'm not here to pat people on their back just because they are not miserably bad at doing something like everyone else, that's for sure. Start reading amigo. We got past the fact that his choice of resources is bad. Now we're discussing that this map has bad map design if any. How about you give me some counterarguments to that? And what "beautifully ironic" do you see here? Because the way I see it, more effort and skill is required to pixel out a single tree, than to make a map that doesn't look horrid with a preexisting tileset.
  18. Otherwise it makes sense. But it's just dry data. You'd have to test it in "combat conditions".
  19. I can see past it. But seeing makes me not wanna. And as I said, seriously. This is a nowhere map, without a plan, without any idea for itself. He used fringes, bravo. He added detail, marvelous. Now can we get past this weird tendency to praise people for not being shitty, give actual feedback and then optionally praise them for being good if they get there? This is not a good map, and I gave valid reasons to back that opinion, dismissing it just because I like to be harsh in delivering won't change anything. I'm not going to evaluate how you hammer nails and bang two planks together in a nice manner. Build something useful and we can discuss what's wrong or good with it.

Notch will probably fund it. lawl. > Not to mention he could fund that himself with no problem. Guessing he's using it as a measure to see if there is any interest for it? Well… that's not exactly how world works, you know? He's not doing ducking charity. He runs a studio, he hires people, those people work for him and he pays them. Obviously he's not mentally ill, and he doesn't want to fund that with his pocket, because he does business, and the idea of business is to earn, not loose. Keeping that in mind it's kind of easy to understand. He want to fund this project with kickstarter, not by himself. NOT TO DO DUCKING MARKET RESEARCH.
  21. COMMUNITY. Boom! Headshot! Your project just failed. Go home.
  22. This is not a combat system. It's a list of statistics. Crafting a better system would require redesigning how the combat flows, not how the exact same flow affects preexisting statistics.
