(Maybe XD) > But with art part of pixel art, I can provide a painter's tip. Many times you can add dimension by using complementary colours as your darks rather than just darker versions of your colour. What seems black on red would actually be a very dark green, or black on orange would technically be a dark navy. It does have to be very dark though, otherwise it looks odd. Light, on the other hand, is usually just white + colour. Food for thought.
