It's not pixel art that you should try to improve, but the way you're seeing things. Light and Shadow plays the most important role in art, your brain tries to recognise the pattern your eyes are seeing. In the 2nd example, there are too many light sources, very hard to achieve maybe even impossible [in real life] to give those shadows, in the first example is much better, the light source is coming from the upper left corner. Try observing objects in real life, where the light hits them and where the shadow is casted, do not try with multiple light sources at first, you want to study not to fool your brain. Because the brain can easily be deceived by what information your eyes give. There is way too much to explain, you must see for your self, observe the world, see it with your eyes, study it, try figuring what is what and why is there. Good luck!

Your website is unprotected, I can browse everything in your directories. Oh, make the example images bigger when clicked [not only the first ones], can't see anything, but a small image.

Use that GUI, doesn't look bad, but continue working on this, seems pretty fun.

You will have to re-write the entire battle system, because for all these years, there hasn't been people to make a turn based battle system on Eclipse, or at least to post their engine here, not just the game. If you have the skills in vb6, then you can use Skywyre, not sure how good it is, but expect some bugs here and there.

As an artist, I suggest you to go with your style, do not modify the hearts, looks way better than what Carim posted above. What you did wrong is pretty much the color saturation, it's 100% Saturated, wich not only that it's pretty bad for eyes but also the colors will never go well with eachother. Try to desaturate the colors a bit, and the highlight shouldn't mean just a brighter tone of the same color, try adding a different lighter color as highlight, maybe something more to orange and such. Like I did in this example:  In your show off, the frame where the Heart takes damage, it's background blends too much with everything wich is bad, and very hard to see if you actually took damage and how much you have left. So, I went for a darker color, and fewer frames, since you really don't need that many on such a small heart.

No offense, but they sound terrible. The Jungle theme is just a 2 sec sound, looping, definitely not worth 15$, not even 2$ The Calm theme ain't that calm, and the start of it, god…my ears.

Try Tactical, will save you from a lot of animation frames.

This bug, was on so many vb6 engines, that I somehow suspect devs stealing same stuff from eachother and tweaking it so it doesn't seem like stolen. :D lol Try updating your Graphics Card Driver.

The problem with your portfolio is that, you don't have enough examples, and the existent examples cannot be viewed at their full dimension. I have no idea where should I post this, since everything is about…Eclipse. So, I'm posting it here. **Why ?** Because people should know, if they didn't find out already. The new RPG Maker is called RPG Maker MV, they got rid of Ruby and came with JS, now you will be able to make rpgs for all platforms, mobile versions, etc. **What's New ?** - Database for items, spells and such went from 999 to 2000. - You can make games for mobile phones, mac, etc. - Side view battle. [Can be switched of course and modified through scripting - JS] - New Sprites [new style] - New Tiles [content in general] - New Character Creator - Sprites and Tiles now use 48x48 instead of 32x32, though you can switch back. - More Mapping Options - Smoother animations when walking on the map. And a lot more. You won't be able to port projects and scripts to MV since it uses JS instead of Ruby. **Said to be released** [global maybe, not just in japan] **somewhere this Winter.**

Why is this ^ guy so mad? He is not trolling, he is kinda right, it does sound pretty "forced" to me. If people can't be nice to eachother and help eachother without any kind of reward then that's pretty bad and shows how fake people are, and this thread promotes that kind of mentality. A dog used to get his treat after every trick, will bite his master's hand sooner or later.

Why start working on something that you don't know anything about? There are no professional people around here.
