  2. It's one big image, it contained grass, trees, brick castle, cliffs, water etc It was made by Murdoc and it's retro style.   3. dariken congrats, coding is fun to learn and its very important if you wanto further your computing. the thing I tell everyone when they ask what language should I learn first or start? the real question here is what do you wanto make? figure out what you wanto make then start there for example if you wanto make games VB6 is one of the worse languages for doing so take a look at eclipse its still the same buggy laggy unstable piece of shit its been from 2001 when the source was stolen and renamed eclipse. find out what you wanto make then learn the best language for it. do not start with C or any hard languages like that, all this will do is teach you to ignore (the more advanced things you should not learn at the beginning) things and thats bad in programming. programming is not hard, it doesnt take a genius as long as you can read you can do it.

Thanks for the reply frankenstein, yes I always run the server through the launcher to check for updates etc, it may have been my internet connection that went out but I highly doubt but I will for sure check, there is always the chance my connection is going out. Server has been running steady since my first post no more of those auth errors yet :)

I'm currently playing around with the silver edition atm seeing what its capable of etc etc, when I leave the server running over night I wake up with the error "Authorization request to long, server shutdown". This is a big problem for anyone who is running an active game if the servers are shutting down every night for long periods players will get pretty frustrated. I'm not to sure how you guys can fix this issue or maybe its still in its early development stages and you guys are doing lots of restarts, maintenance and updates but an easy fix could be only using a auth login and checking for updates at the start then disabling and type of communication between our server and the auth, this will prevent our servers going down when you guys bring down the auth but this could also allow pirating etc. Not to sure what you guys want to do but or maybe a reply back letting us know it won't be like this once bugs and kinks are worked out but as of now the gold or silver will not be able to host any "online" games seeing as how you would need a server "online" for players to join. Thanks for any help or replies guys and keep up the awesome work so far the engine is very clean, fast and reliable except for the auth issues atm. Keep up the work and cant wait to see some of those new features added!

His more recent stuff gets better and better as he progresses, but we do keep pushing him to optimize it for a reason. I'm not just talking about deathbeams work but that could be used as an example. I also can't vouch for his stuff running better because I have a computer with at least 1GB of Ram or more and I'm not running a 700mhz Pentium Processor the last time I did this was back in the 90's and I remember hacking the front of my pc case's digi box to say 700+mhz it wasn't even 700mhz lol. This also brings up a valid point here Joyce I have never ran this stuff on a low end computer so performance wise I have never been able to test and if it runs like shit and could run better I guess you have proved me wrong about the optimization argument.

And adding tons of features to the source is pointless when not all games are going to use all the features. and unused features are a waste of space and actually slow your game down. and its been 11 years? hmm that sounds like plenty of time to learn how to code. That's a great point and also goes to show any project, custom version, official version I have ever used nothing has worked 100% and it's been like this for 11 years. Nothing is going to change I see you figured out how to fix some things the way you wanted and ever since I got my old copy of vb6 studio off craigslist I have been learning a lot and how bad a lot of this stuff is put together. So those who are crying about it need to stop crying about it. We have enough here to make an optimized base engine but no one has released it no one ever will so the point of people saying "optimize your shit before you release it" do it yourself or don't cry about it. Why are we bashing random people playing around releasing stuff with features u might think are useless when were all sitting around supporting an official base engine that is bugged and unoptimized as hell.
  11. If it's been inefficient for 11 years obviously the average user or the person requesting the optimization its not going to be fixed. I'm not talking about the everyday features we get here and there or changes, yes that stuff if your implementing it you should make sure it's optimized. For the comment of people not releasing there optimized code I can only imagine we have all seen some pretty insane projects spawn from the base of this engine and those were just previews of what they were working on. I'm talking to the people who request an optimization every time someone posts a Custom Version or wants to bash on anything they can. All I'm saying is Obviously if EO 3.0 is out and your telling them to optimize that before you do any useless features that people most likely want that is just absurd. If it was that easy then we would have 3.1,2,3,4 etc within the next week. I guess I'm just angry that everyone acts like god around here and just wants to flame or bash others over useless or irrelevant comments. There are so many people here and there is so much talent and potential but we only ever see any of it on a rare occasion.

Every single person who has said "optimize your code" first off if you can't run this by now you probably should not be using a kitchen appliance you can pickup a cheap decent computer anywhere from any company now a days so go and do that. Look how many years this source has been out and its still just as buggy and screwed as it was before it was released to the public, so obviously if your the guy crying telling him instead of adding features he should optimize the code NO ONE KNOWS HOW! or it would have been done within it's 11 year lifespan. On another note I would not be here if we weren't moving forward and in the past 5 months we have had bigger achievements released to the public then we have had in the last 11 years so gj. So quit being negative lots of you are delusional and its really sad and I know why most of you that are negative make some really absurd comments that really show you know nothing about coding or the topic you are commenting on. Especially the optimize shit.
  13. Alright guys & gals I finally found an old VB6 Studio on craigs list and now I can get into some coding! Here is my problem: I'm using Eclipse Advanced player sprites & mobs are 64x32 64 pixels tall. I would like to use 32x32. My problem is when I place a 32x32 sprite sheet in it detects it perfectly fine but the player shadow and the name still extends to 64. My question: Where can I find this in the source and how would I go about changing it back to 32x32 so the name and shadows are perfectly aligning with my sprite? Thanks all!
  14. Engine is awesome, I've been waiting to see more work done involving DX8. Bug Report: You are able to heal mobs and will crash the server if multiple people are online. Other than this simple fix everything is working great keep up the good word!

Yes you are right John, it's damn near close to an out of the box Mirage Realms there is not to much to do to this engine other then a GUI change which takes time and will at the least take a couple of weeks plus stable work to get it looking good which I haven't got around to. I'm not much of a VB6 Coder so I'm looking for one but a few source edits I have done is fix 2 issues that crash the server at a certain amount of EXP and another which would freeze your game upon entering a new map Upwards from the current map. Also a few features I have added successfully so far is my scripted warfront event and protocols to communicate with the website. The big development is taking place website side were the armory and other automated goodies for the players will be run. @Likestodraw: > Would you like to have me back as a mapper? The reason I chose MR over Eclipse is because the source I picked up was more stable and had the exact features I wanted for "MY" project not saying that Mirage is better or vise versa in anyway however MR is more optimal for my project atm.   18. **Info:** I'm currently working on a small project for my gaming community, I'm using CS:DE, I see that the Banks & Trading are coded but not working yet, all it needs is a front end or rendering of the bank window & trade window. I'm looking for someone who can do this simple task for me. (Get the bank & trades working with the ingame windows.) I do believe this only has to be done client side, I will give you a fast dl link to my current source. Also the windows do not have to be some spectacular fancy gui and if you could even make the windows pic up from an image in the data files this would be even more awesome. Alright guys, not looking for someone to do this for me lets start out with that, however if there is any tutorials floating around that will work with cs:de for banks & trading or even rendering it would be great I couldn't find any here :p So were I'm at is I understand the EO Code for banks & trading are still intact this means I just have to render the trading window and bank widow, my first question is would this be all I would have to do or is there more. Now second question I've looked at the code back and forth and does anyone know for sure the modules and forms I would have to edit? Right now the only thing I would have to edit is the 'frmmain' on my client side to get these two systems working or is there more I would have to edit for the front end? Any info on the banks, trading & rendering would be very helpful I'm very new to vb6 so doing little projects like these open me up for more complicated projects.   22. Wow soul my ignorance is actually really disgusting, this is a pure example of an impatient idiot who does not really have much respect. I really appreciate the assistance. If I had just taken the time to learn a bit of VB6 and even taken the time to read around or just think for a second I would have maybe not posted what was posted above. As for the fixes I have not tried any yet but all seem to be complete common sense and something I should have looked at. I will be testing them right after this it looks like all should work. This thread should be put in the shame area or atleast be used as an example of pure ignorance. Again thanks everyone and especially Soul for even taken his precious time to even make a reply let alone fix and add information on how and why I'm getting these bugs.

This engine has been around for 10+ years, nothing has changed except a few good features that are stable & working which we can't complain about I'm thankful for it :) The thing is this engine has not advanced much at all since these 10 years of people ripping it, changing the name etc. (Maybe it has in some ways but I use to be around in the mirage days in 2001. The basic engine you guys claim has tons of bugs still and features that still don't work. I'm by far no VB6 coder and it is hard coming from c# to this, vb6 is a simple language with outrageous dependencies but you don't have to make these depends your self. I recently downloaded the CS:DE Source and fixed 2-3 major bugs within 5 minutes and I just googled vb6 code… Why hasen't this stuff been fixed? Why haven't tuts been put out for real issues and bugs? If this engine is made for beginners and people just stepping foot in the pool why do u guys bash them and tell them to GTFO if they ask beginner questions? This community so far is full of people who act like they are king shit and have done something but instead of making a minimap script or coded a pet system how about we make a real stable basic platform and help out beginners and work together with the intermediates to achieve this? I will be releasing working full tuts on how to fix some bugs in CS:DE along with any features I decide to add to help everyone out and will be posting on the forums helping out who ever I can. Yes VB6 is a horrid language for something huge like WoW, but for this awesome 2d rpg it is not bad at all if your friend knows c then vb6 is html compared to php it's real simple. As far as eclipse growing it's mirage... It's been around for 10 years unless we get real programmers it will stay at it's current state.

The latest news image you see at the start of the main menu is changed in the image 22.png, make sure your image is all black and then add text, start the game then move your text around until you have it centered or the way you like it. Image 19.png is your credits page image do the same thing here also if you like to edit it. Image 22.png both images need White text or a text color that will stick out from your background color. 19.png you cannot see the text because it's white and the background is gone so it probly shows the background as white like in your windows folder.

Now please hear me out I'm new to the vb6 scene it's hard for me to pick up on this because I'm a c# proger but so far the sources and tutorials I have seen here are really bad and that's pretty sad seeing how long this engine has been out and how many times it's been ripped/renamed. New Edit: Different drops for different Npc's now working, if I find fixes for the other problems I will be posting complete tuts to fix these soon :)**
