  1. Not necessarily. I want to see what can be changed into bytes first, but anything calculation oriented that cannot be a byte will be stuck as a long. Anything that simply holds values, or is sparingly used in calculations etc, but needs to be larger then a byte will be made integers (unless they need to exceed 2 ^16 - 1), but I doubt the latter will happen. That way, I can be as memory and processor efficient as viable possible, without steering too heavily towards prioritising memory efficiency. I know I said my main aim is toward optimising memory, but that doesn't mean to say that I abandon optmising on processing.
  2. ![^_^](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/public/style_emoticons//happy.png) Well, 'cause you know, we're all obviously qualified to complain and female dog about the voluntary work of othe–owait. jk
  3. Perhaps I should post the benefits of joining Glaciate: * A skilled team: combined, we're experienced in C++, C, VB6, VB.NET, C#, Java, Python, and Javascript. Any idea you envision can easily be possible. * The hosting is unlimited in terms of sub-domains, email accounts, databases, etc. Joining Glaciate will entitle you to use whatever you please. You can have your own sub-domain, email, site, blog, etc. * A cool, relaxed, and flexible team, where we understand personal time constraints, and don't egg you to get stuff done, but we still get stuff done, anyway. * Shared profits of anything that you work on, within each project. Take the chance!
  4. I have the odd feeling that I'm a part of the (Seemingly small) group that this is aimed at. Anyway, to the point, Advanced is popular because of commonly wanted systems. The majority of the community for the most part are quite oblivious, admittedly and unfortunately. They don't care if an engine runs however it runs for whoever else, they just want something that's done for them, and allows them to just make content without the need to bother learning to program. Eclipse Dawn was popular because it -perfectly- managed and maintained the balance between optimism, and features, while managing to educate members at the same time. I haven't seen another custom version do this, since. Every other one has either tipped too heavily on features, or optimising. Currently, the closest that I think that comes to that is Rob's custom version, but because it is closed-source (For now, with reason), you can't really say it's stance on educating members in game development. EA is too heavily balanced towards features to make it ultimately usable on the majorities of peoples systems, and Eclopti is generally extremely bare-bones, however it runs, requiring effort on the end user to actually make a game. Sad reality, that effort plays such a huge part on the used custom version, but hey. Whatever floats the end-users boat.
  5. > …normal EO2.0... Because an engine using a completely different graphic and and sound engine are obviously comparble, right? Compare it to EO3, not 2\. That's where the differences to the norm should obviously apply.
  6. Uhm, excuse my ~~laziness~~ inactivity. Been busy with a mixture of own projects, Glaciate, commissions, schoolwork, etc. I suppose I should just say updates'll come when they come in future.

OK, I redid the forums. Check them out, and give me a new opinion on it, please! (And, while you're there, sign up! xD) [http://glaciate.net/forums/](http://glaciate.net/forums/)
  8. That is easily available from Stein's Freedom Online (which is where I got the base from), so, it'd be dickish of me to sell what's not mine. Ask Joyce for a link to the source, she may still have a copy. If you're still interested, just ask any question, and I'll answer as best as I can. Edit: Haha, thanks John. =D
  9. **Motive** Uh, so, recently, I realised that I don't actually have any spending money for the London MCM Expo, which is obviously, a problem, as you sortof can't really enjoy yourself without money, there, so, I'm looking to do some various things just to get myself some spending money. The MCM Expo starts on the 26th of this month, which leaves you 15 days to PM me, so we can agree to a deal! **How much do I charge?** Depends on the job, but, because I am trying to quickly grab myself some money, I'll be able to quote you for anything at a fairly low price. I don't charge at an hourly rate, however, I also cannot guarantee that I'll accept a job, if I deem it too long for my time-scale! **What can I do?** I can do a range of things, ranging from engine optimisations, to generation, to additional functionality, to more moderation support for you, etc. Whatever you want, I can (almost) guarantee that I can do it. I can work with any DD7 or D3D8 version, and the work I do doesn't necessarily have to be to do with Eclipse, so long as it's a VB6 job. Predefined systems that'll take me an hour at the most. - Fullscreen and resolution support (£3) - Dungeon generation [Direct from The Tower!] (£12) - Have your engine be completely fixed up to the current Eclopti/Eclopti Rekindled commits (+ more that I'm not intentionally adding to ER.) (£5) - Data conversion [Converting binary formats if you are changing engines] (£1-2) **Examples of my worK:** [The Tower](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/index.php?/topic/127800-the-tower-roguelike-orpg/) - A roguelike ORPG. Also sports completely random dungeon generation elements, and randomly generated NPCs. [The Eclipse Optimisation Project: Rekindled](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/index.php?/topic/129782-eclopti-rekindled/) - A custom version completely made up of optimisations to the way Eclipse Origins 3 runs on many computers. **Contact** Please PM me if you wish to contact me. Don't forget, this offer is limited, so, contact soon before it's too late!
  10. They completely ruined the image of Ghetsis for me.
  11. More or less, so, it's a matter of whether you want to optimise on memory, or processing. For now, my main aim is to focus on memory, as people often seem to have a far worse RAM in proportion to their processor, however, you're free to just not copy the commits over. It's exactly decisions like this why ER exists as commits, and not versions, so people can choose what they want.
  12. ![](http://glaciate.net/images/logodark.png) Website: **[http://glaciate.net/](http://glaciate.net/)** Hello everybody, I'm in search for a few members looking to join our team. In summary, I am searching for: * **A Developer**, to be able to develop and assist in any of our projects that I may ask you to develop for. I am looking for one to assist the development of Onyxmon. * **A concept artist**, to draw some artwork for our online Trading Card Game, Onyxmon. This involves drawing the art that will be on the 'cards' themselves, and various other concept art to be used in advertisments. Skill is not an ultimate issue, as we only require somebody who can actively draw, and we are intentionally trying to aim for a simplistic sketchy style. * **A pixel artist,** as unfortunately, Duders currently is very busy, which leaves us at an impasse, as we cannot complete The Tower with ¾-finished pixel art. We need somebody who can complete the remaining pixel art, and assist Duders in the future with additional updates, and help with future games and programs. Our current projects include **Time's Hourglass**, an ORPG in development, where the player must use time-travel to their advantage, **The Tower**, a rougelike ORPG, **Onyxmon**, an online trading card game, sporting unique rules and immense strategy, and **many more programs** that are made for everyday use, and **services on our website** for you to use. The current team consists of: - Me: the team leader, Programmer, Developer, and Web Developer - Ghostly: Lead Programmer - Decado: Lead Developer and Developer for Onyxmon - Synergy: Developer for Time's Hourglass - Blazinkid: Developer for Onyxmon - Budweiser: Programmer for Revelation - The Awakening, partnered with Glaciate. I require: * **Activity**. There is no point in wasting anybody's time if you are going to become imminently busy. * The ability to speak **coherent** **English**. That's all. The benefits of joining Glaciate: * A skilled team: combined, we're experienced in C++, C, VB6, VB.NET, C#, Java, Python, and Javascript. If you have any additional comments, please post here, and I will do my best to answer to the best detail I can. **If you wish to apply, please PM me (meaning, do not post here!). There's no set template, so, structure how you feel most comfortable, however, I do want to see examples of previous work!**
  13. Fixed that up. Later today (Or tomorrow, if my internet kills itself?): GameLoop timing overhaul!
  14. > …I am glad that you, unlike everyone else are not tearing it apart haha... D: Well, Rob, when voting comes, I'll probably vote for you, this is probably the only version that balances features and optimising well.
  15. Note to self: fix up the InitDX8 routine, it's causing more problems than I thought, and I keep forgetting to change it.

    Glaciate

It wasn't, as I only recently changed all the entire site to work from templates, so, while I was on the abject of changing things, I thought I'd just make it all consistent (the non forum pages, anyway.) And, thanks. Edit: Abject? Damned touch keyboards, *subject.
  17. > Wasn't it Iris who was looking at Python scripting or something for Eclopti? That could be a choice. I'm looking at either using Python, or integrating IS (my own interpreted 'scripting' language, still need to do some testing with it. Either way, some form of scripting will happen with ER+.
  18. Alright, should be all good. If you have any problems, PM me!
