  1. Wait. If Tiles can be an arbitrary size, and tilesheets any number of columns wide, how does the engine know how big the tiles are?
  2. 2 more questions have come to mind while browsing the data folder: How do I make fog? and what is the purpose of the picture folder? also, I'm assuming tilesets are always 8 columns wide, correct?
  3. Hey guys, I'm back! Did anyone miss me? Didn't think so, I doubt anyone still here remembers me… Anyway, nostalgia is not the point of this topic, this topic is firmly rooted in the present version of Eclipse. I've come back after a great long time to find much has changed. Some for the better, some for the worse. Its good to see that progress is now being made and updates are happening, but I do have a concern. Hearing that a previously open source project went closed source set alarm bells ringing. Has anyone chased up the licences for the versions above EO4 in the 'code tree' that is the long and colorful history of the Eclipse Engine to check compatibility? On a slightly lighter note, I'm starting a new game project, but can't find any info on the formats/layouts etc. for the art assets. I mean, I can see that they're all png files, but I have questions like; Can I make the tiles an arbitrary size? Can I make sprites an arbitrary size? How do autotiles actually work? What order do the frames come in on sprite sheets? and so on... Is there a handy-dandy "all you need to know about creating art assets for Eclipse" that I can send to my artist friend?

  8. right, im hoping most of you are familiar with a program called scratch, (those who aren't, google it.) and in ICT at school we are making our own games, and im trying to make a full RPG in it, and i have used some sprites from my Eclipse client files, and i know that theyre from RPGMXP, but i cant find the battelers for my battel system, so if i dont find them, my games no gonna look good, so has anyone got the battelers? (the sprites ive ripped are attached, so you can see which battelers are needed)

  12. the guy who gets frozen is obviously sora but that wouldnt make sence as killing sora would compleatly destroy the storyline of kingdom hearts, the blue haired guy is probably riku but that vid is just strange, is the game going to be called "birth by sleep" or "the keyblade wars"?
  13. has anyone got a sprite sheet with farm animals on it (probably a big NPC sprite sheet). it would also be preferable if it had the monsters i currently have so i dont have to make a mess and spend ages alighning and merging the two sheets.
  14. right, just checked with my dad (he's a computer technition) and he says your page file needs to be bigger that way your server will have more space to deal with the commands: * on your start menu, right click on my computer and go properties * click advanced and click settings under performance * click advanced and click change under virtural memory * at the bottom you will see minimum page file, total page file and recommended page file, you need to make shure your page file is bigger than recomended * click custom size and put an amount bigger than the recomended in the first box(about 1500 should normaly do it) * set the maximium size to about 1.5-2 times the minimum (about 3000 for me) * click OK on all open dialoug boxes and reboot your computer and you should be fine *I do not accsept responability for any undesired operation caused from following this guide, this guide is designed for windows XP i can not garunte compatability with Vista or windows 7
  15. you need to understand how alot of servers handle this: even on a closed server, commans from you are sent, from your computer, uot to the router, then back again, this causes a lot of internet traffic on your LAN. the trouble is, on some routers there is a limit on how many packets can move through it per computer, (this is to stop one computer using all the bandwith)(packets are what data is sent across the internet in(as little bits of data with packaging on the outside)) when the limit is reached, the router stores the packets in the buffer so it can deal with them one at a time, but, when the buffer gets full, it overflows, data is lost, and so is your connection to the game. on some routers it is possible to raise or remove the ip packet cap, however, i have no experiance with your type of router so im afraid i cannot help you there EDIT: i am fairly shure it is correct, but i am going to have to check, will report later.
